To January 1987 and Ian Snodin puts pen to paper under the watchful eye of Howard Kendall, after signing for Everton from Leeds in a deal worth around £840,000. Snodin had also agreed terms on the red half of Merseyside but ended up collecting a championship medal later that year when the Toffees claimed the First Division title. As for his impressive upper-lip warmer, Snodin later explained: “The scousers gave me so much stick in the end I had it cut and shaved. In my defence, it was still the height of passion in Yorkshire.”
