Wonder if he got swindled when he was here or was at another club.James McFadden made bankrupt with debts of £2.5m through investments in film production companies that were proven to be non tax compliant.
Billy McKinlay was made bankrupt in 2017 with debts of £700k through something similar…don’t think he will be challenging Moyes too much !

iirc howard wilkinson was on the swindlers payroll, he was one of the primary drivers of the LMA (League managers association) and had vouched for the criminals reputations. It is a bit underhand conning a bunch of teenage and early to mid 20's kids out of their career earnings. Some that fell foul of the schemes weren't long term top flight players so not the super wealthy elite with image rights and modelling careers.Much sympathy has been expressed re this, and indeed such fraud is a dirty little crime.
I'm always aware however the motivation for the players was to avoid paying taxes, y'know like we chumps have to.
The irony being those same players want the police and regulatory bodies to intervene and bring the criminals to justice and find out where their dosh has gone.
Those same agencies paid by, erm, taxes.

Used to work in Insolvency, you would be surprised at the players I came across who went bankrupt.
You wouldn't think that footballers would have money problems, really shocked me.

I suppose a victim of a crime is still a victim regardless of their social or financial status. When something seems to good to be true it often is.
