Big Nev having his say.
Have to say he looks worryingly overweight for a 66 year old![]()
Always bangs the Everton drum for us the big fella, considering in my own opinion there is only Bally and Dixie above him in any EFC pantheon it is almost criminal how he has been overlooked by this club,I truly hope this major flaw in our identity is eradicated soon when we move to BMD.
I know a couple of ex teammates of his who say that he’s a great bloke in many ways, but also a very difficult character. From what they’ve told me I’m not sure it’s entirely a case of the club overlooking him, more that things haven’t always been particularly easy when dealing with him.Always bangs the Everton drum for us the big fella, considering in my own opinion there is only Bally and Dixie above him in any EFC pantheon it is almost criminal how he has been overlooked by this club,I truly hope this major flaw in our identity is eradicated soon when we move to BMD.
Isn't there a manager consensus that goal keepers are a breed apart? All a few fruit loops short of a breakfast, comes with the territory type story.I know a couple of ex teammates of his who say that he’s a great bloke in many ways, but also a very difficult character. Yeah very much so. And like I say it’s not that they say he’s a bad bloke by any means, just that he can be very difficult to deal with, and his relationship with the club isn’t quite as straightforward as it might seem from the outside.Isn't there a manager consensus that goal keepers are a breed apart? As one of the best ever, perhaps he's tuned into the force that bit more.

Like I say, I’m just repeating what people who know him well and played with him have told me. It’s not just about whether what he said in certain interviews is ‘right’ it’s about his overall personality and his attitude towards the club not just the clubs attitude towards him. From what they say it isn’t quite as it might look from the outside, but obviously that’s just their opinion I’m not saying it’s 100% true. He’s not wrong tho, from what I’ve seen all he has done is point out what has happened and how bad it is.
If you look at it objectively there isn’t many who have done the same and with some former players, who are revered, they have barely said anything if at all.

I don’t think it needs much more elaboration to be honest. They say he’s a difficult character, he can take umbrage at things, hold grudges, be rude to people etc. in their eyes it’s not just a case of saying ‘poor nev is treated really badly by the club’, it’s more ‘the relationship between him and the club is complicated’.Can you elaborate on this? What is their opinions?
