He wouldn't. But he should give a toss about Everton and showing positive intentions from us. Brands is a football man, he'll know about timing and how it'll be perceived by the rs and Evertonians. He may however think that Newcastle are an irrelevance depending on what his view on the Newcastle takeover is.

I don’t think Brands is going to go out and lash £40m at a player in June because it might upset Liverpool fans. Not that they’d care anyway to be honest, we’ve been throwing money around for years and haven’t got anywhere.

I do hope Brands teams up with Sir Mike and sells them Sigurdsson for £50m, that would certainly remove heads from shoulders.
