This is the litmus test for Carlo and the squad ..... Can you get 3 pts vs. the almost -saudi horse punchers ?!
You bet we can COYB ! UTFT !!!!!

Pickford
Kenny Mina Keane Nkounkou
Doucoure Allan Delph
Gordon Calvert-Lewin Bernard

Olsen Godfrey Branthwaite Davies Gomes Sigurdsson Iwobi

I would play Delph as I would give Nkounkou licence to go forward and tell Delph to fill in for him like Barry did for Baines/Oviedo in that first Martinez season. Nkounkou is key player for me as Kenny doesn't offer half the attacking threat. That midfield should win the battles and can always bring Gomes on once the game opens up a little. The front 3 I would start as I have them but maybe switch it round so Gordon partners DCL and put Bernard behind and make a diamond midfield.

I have this horrible feeling that Iceland starts...Please Carlo NO!!!!

Really tough game.

I'd go

Pickford
Kenny, Keane, Mina, Nkounkou
Doucoure, Allan, Gomes
Iwobi, DCL, Gordon

Feel like Siggy will play though because they'd want a set piece taker. In that case, Iwobi out and Siggy in.

For the record, I've just had a look at our line-up that beat Newcastle 2-1 at St James' Park last season.

Pickford
Sidibe
Keane
Holgate
Baines
Richarlison
Sigurdsson
Davies
Walcott
DCL
Kean

If we can get 3 points with that team, then there's no reason why we can't do so tomorrow, even without key players.
I said the same last week about our average side that won at St Mary's last season.. that didn't work out too well...
