I just can't understand why every game in the PL isn't televised in Engalnd. In Sweden you can see every PL-game except the saturday at 15 when you only can see 1 game. I know I will watch Newcastle-Everton live on my TV, it's a shame you all can't when it's year 2014.

Following BIB's post, i'd imagine that we'd probably play the Cup game on the Friday night, and IF Arsenal get knocked out, and have the league game on the Monday.

It's because, i'd imagine that those fans of the little teams in the league, and in the non league, well their fans would stay in and watch the premier league, even if 100-200 were shaved off the gate each week, over the course of 23 home games that's potentially 4,600 people, which for some teams, is a full fixture of revenue, or in some cases, 2 games. It'd cripple the football pyramid.

Edit: As for Premier League teams, teams like Fulham already take rubbish followings, that'd get even worse and even Everton would lose a good couple of thousand each week imo, Everton Vs. Stoke, where's the appeal in paying £40 when it's on the box for free?

If it was up to me no league games would be shown on live tv.

If the league didn't get 60% of their incomes from tv rights they might actually give a crap about scheduling matches in a way that makes life easy for the fans going to games.

It should really be up to every man to decide for himself. Sounds like the old way of thinking where you shouldn't think for yourself and let "big brother" do it for you. There are other things to do nowadays then watch football.

Im confused, whats the problem with this game?

Its only 3 hours away.

This one is fine.

The southampton game being an early kick off though. And the fact we hardly play any games at 3pm on a saturday any more.

Southampton played Sunderland in the fa cup last round and they moved the kickoff to 12:45 on a sat. When fans are coming from southampton to sunderland.

The real money for the league is in tv deals so they feel free to mess around the fans who go to the match.

It would seriously improve the game if the league stopped live broadcast of their games.

But it's a British past time, there are other things to do. But it's absolutely massive here, even the non-league teams are getting 4-figure attendances, Southport got over 1,000 in the fifth tier, thats when Everton and Liverpool both played on a saturday.

Oh and despite being a big club in terms of past history, Luton, also in the fifth tier, got 8,500.

It's British culture, and well, in the kindest possible way, what's the typical average attendance for a Top Flight Swedish game? 5-8,000? with one big team getting 10,000+? Football needs the 3pm rule.

I can only speak for myself, but I'd need the day off work to go to a Tuesday game in newcastle

I don't finish till 4:30 and it would be pushing it to get from work to the stadium in time for 7:45. Man United, Man City, Liverpool I could make from work, this one I couldn't, so I'm going to have to use a days holiday so I can go

Originally, it was going to be on a weekend day that I already had off, hence the comparable ball ache for me

Every Premier league game is televised live. In Australia

I am extremely surprised that they have announced this date now, because if the Arsenal game were to go to a replay, I have no idea at all when it would be played. March 25th would have been the only logical date for a replay.

As far as a possible replay goes:

It could not be played the midweek of March 11/12/13 as that is a European week (that Arsenal are playing in).
It could not be played on Monday March 17th, as Arsenal play Spurs the previous day.
It could not be played the midweek of March 18/19/20 as that is a European week.
It could have been played on Tuesday March 25, but now the Newcastle vs Everton game is on that date.
It could not be played on Monday March 31st, as Everton play Fulham away the previous day.
It could not be played the midweek of April 1/2/3 as that is a European week.
It could not be played on Monday April 7th, as Everton play Arsenal at home in the league the previous day.
It could not be played the midweek of April 8/9/10 as that is a European week.

The FA Cup Semi Final scheduled for April 12/13.

About the only dates available for a possible replay would be Thursday March 27/Friday March 28, or Friday April 4th, which would be 2 days before we would be scheduled play Arsenal in the league. It would be 8 days before the FA Cup Semi Final weekend, and Arsenal availability for that date is also dependent on Bayern Munich knocking Arsenal out of the CL.

So in short, if the Arsenal FA Cup game goes to a replay, a league game will have to be moved (and that creates another problem in itself), or we play 2 days before a league game on Friday night April 4th.

The Newcastle game has been arranged for the 25th March because that is when it will be played, we have not put announced anything to do with a replay. The FA have boxed themselves into a corner regarding the quarter final replays. The rules state that a replay has to be played by the second Wednesday after the tie so that would be 19th. March. But it can't be played on the 19th. because Champions League games are being played, the same on Tuesday 18th. That means, according to the rules, the game has to be played on the Monday, something they forced Hull City to do against Brighton.

As you point out Arsenal play Spurs on Sunday 16th. at 4.00 pm. That means they will ask to postpone their game on the Sunday. And I think we would ask for the Cardiff game to be postponed on the Saturday, but they have a problem. Hull were told that they would have to play on the Saturday before the Monday night game and that a postponement wasn't possible.

So according to the rules and the precedence set by the Hull/Brighton replay then Arsenal will be required to play on the Sunday and Monday. It will be interesting to see what happens.
