I can appreciate that the spiritual home is Goodison, and I do like & understand the feeling of history as each game is played but, what is Goodison park once those stands are torn down for redevelopment?
The stands will be gone which leaves the pitch & surrounding neighbourhood, is that what Goodison is? The walk to the Pubs, to the ground, is that Goodison?
Whilst it's hard to let go of all that tradition at that location, a redevelopment will change the atmosphere just as much as a totally new ground.
As much as I get standing where your ancestors watched the game can be awesome, I think the appeal of Goodison comes from the fans anyway. Regardless of whether it's a new ground or redevelopment, it'll be the fans that create the atmosphere and forge a new history for the club.

New stadium.

Lets make history. Lets not be confined by it.
I'm for redeveloping Goodison, but this is the best proposal to change my mind that I've seen. I'd like to stay, but if we move, this is the way to look at it.

New stadium.

If we redeveloped Goodison I would still have that dispiriting walk along County Road or Westminster Road then up Spellow Lane.

A brand spanking new ground needs suitable environs to really look impressive.
I fear for County Road if we move.

It's beyond Queens Drive. Not enough pubs and its further away from
Town than Goodison. We should be looking to improve not just move because it's the cheapest option.
"Imrpoving" doesn't just mean geography. If we can have a genuinely world class stadium in WHP or a slightly improved version of goodison, i'm voting for the former.

Buy the Echo Arena, make it 5 times bigger, they can still use it for concerts etc.

If only if it was that easy. Just reminiscing about the King's Dock and what could have been.

She'd clear out the obstructed views. Imagine her presenting Moshiri with his options. "We have £2,000,000 left over, so we want to know if you want brick pavers at the entrances, a new french door in the office, or we can build two giant fingers where Walton Motors used to be."

Ha. She'd definitely open up the space, include a large island for all the team to gather round, all new counter tops at the bars, light fixtures and back splashes in toilets. She'll even ship lap the outside, to give it that old but new feel. Cute.

I Love Goodison, I have been going there for 41 years with my dad, however, I now live "darn souff" and stadiums like Milton Keynes and even the Ricoh etc are fabulous, great facilities, more revenue earned from people being able to get something to eat or a brew at half time, better safety access and entry, more hospitality revenue. I really think a brand new stadium, on the right site is a must have, very soon.

Kings Dock was a massive missed opportunity, the location itself would have been spectacular in terms of promoting the club to the influx of visitors to the city, ease of transportation, support mechanism. That has been and gone, I am doubtful a better location will offer itself but as soon as the new owner is ratified by the premier league a decision has to be made reasonably quickly so all these years of dithering can be put behind us and we can hopefully look forward to a world class stadium we can all be proud of.

It's less than a mile from Goodison.

It's mere existence would drive businesses that could feed of it to expand / arrive.

Choosing a location based on the number of alehouses in the vicinity isn't a prime factor.

The club should be looking to ensure that they retain a much higher percentage of our match day spend anyway, and instead of local pubs etc feeding off us, they should create an environment in a new facility that encouraged us to go there for a bevvy and something to eat instead.

County Road itself may be okay but many of the pubs will soon disappear as they'll lose a massive chunk of their monthly income.
