Get on the exercise bike or treadmill whilst the game is on.

Getting home all hours is no excuse and you know it, it takes no time at all to knock a meal up.
no it isn't mate i agree. Learned that the hard way this week. Even if i have to eat a bowl of veg for a meal from now on i am going to push myself a little further now.

all in all a bit of a shame really because spent both weekend days walking for hours so that is the only thing i have got to thank for not gaining anything i think, although friday and insanity was out of my hands why i couldn't go to it. Even dropped the session leader an email this morning to point out i haven't given up.

side note, can't preoccupy myself when watching football, lose concentration on the game so becomes counter productive as i can't watch the game then. Just monday wednesday friday workouts then active weekends and hopefully i should be able to start getting results.

bit of a side note, started last week doing the stair challenge in our place, 11 flights of stairs. first time months ago, couldnt walk for days afterwards. didn't thursday and legs were fine...til i woke up the next day lol I want to do that regularly as for those 5 minutes or so, i can strengthen my lower leg muscles massively, but doing so makes them hurt for days which makes it hard to do any other workout. no idea around it, because if i keep it up it makes workouts easier.

Right.

So ends my worst week so far. Don't want to go too much into it but kept finding myself in akward timings so generally what i ate of an evening ended up being the opposite of what i wanted. Still avoided chocolate and crisps and had one can of coke in that time which i only drank because the missus went out and bought me it thinking i wanted one. So yeah, ended up going to Tso's last night as a family meal after a lovely weekend out. Both days to be fair i was very active so it countered what i ate but no consolation.

So what i can take from last week? How easy it is to fall back into old habits, what the effect of lack of exercise can have on you in terms of not budging weight wise, and the fact this is all harder than it seems from the outside. The one good thing i can take from this all is that i don't think i have gained any weight this week, just not lost any either.

So this week i have to get back into it again, 7 weeks til my initial target, 12 weeks until my wedding day now, which i want to be looking good in a suit. if i keep at it with the salads and all the meals at home are healthy enough after shopping, get this initial minimum 4 pounds off, do 3 workouts this week including insanity on friday, and just try and push myself a little bit again. Even if i fall into the eating less than i should category at times, need to get back on track because i am taking those 36 waist pants to scotland with me to wear for the saturday night, entirely up to me if they fit me or not.
The can of coke - just cos she bought it doesn't mean you have to drink it. Put it in the fridge and leave it there. Willpower is a major part of weight loss. If you can see the can and not be tempted to drink it, it'll help when other temptations show up. I'm pretty bad when there's good things to eat, but equally, I can resist when needs be.

Naughty Mrs Ash for buying it for you in the first place. I take it she is aware of what you're trying to achieve?

But on a positive note, absolutely masses he can achieve in 12 weeks. You can do a beginner training programme for a half-marathon in that time, for example.

Get the eating habits back on track and he could do close to a stone in that time

If i can get back into a rythym of it then i would hope to have shed at least 3 stone in that time frame mate. that would take me down to the point where it slows down for me so bit achievable to go lower without massively working out.

Agreed, but it seems he isn't that serious about it was my point

I can see why you would think that. to be honest i am a product of too much too soon. The first 2 weeks was proper in to it and then where i have settled down the eating part bar last week, the exercising lost out.

If anything (not that you are arsed lol ) if i can make a believer out of you then that is motivation in itself.

If you want to give yourself a massive boost and shed some serious weight in a week, then do the cabbage soup diet.

You can lose up to 10lbs in a week on that bad boy, and I have done in the past, so I know it works.

It's not a sustainable diet, but for 1 week it's doable and the results are great.

Not too sure if i can keep up with that mate haha i would do it in a heartbeat but over 7 days, might drive me a little mad. Plus i don't like soup as a meal, doesn't feel like it fills me up. I'd be the same with milkshake meals.

Nearer the time i might give that a crack though as an option, if i get down to 14 stone then give myself a last weeks boost to get lower.

she is. It all came about with me making a joke about it and she took me seriously. I actually had the can from a take away the night before, and purposely didn't drink it but the next night after she had it i made a little joke about it and she then insisted on going to buy me one.

she is supportive of me sure, but also my biggest weight stopping me from fully doing this. If that makes sense? It won't be me saying lets eat this instead, just easier to agree recently. She wants to drop some weight herself so i think after the weekend we are both in a postion to push for it now as sitting here typing, i have just peed a week away, no excuses, i wasted it. My fault, and for all my enthusiasm last monday, it led to nothing. Now i have to get my head down and just kick on.

The will power is kinda there now, as i say not eaten chocolate or crisps in 6 weeks and even in work where they have parties and stuff brought in, i have not been tempted to have any. Fruit is on at least 7-8 weeks every day, porridge is 2-3 weeks every morning despite me bored of it now, salads for lunch for 2 weeks, there is a routine getting there. I just need to eat less of an evening and work out more, even if i have to do it at 12 at night.

See I think the three stone in three months thing is part of the problem @Ashtonian , sure it is achievable but unless you are starting from an extreme highpoint - and if you are aiming for 36" waist you probably aren't- 3 stone is a vast amount. If you do a Google search on the best athlete example I can think of, Ricky Hatton, he used to do 40 lbs in 12 week camps (I think) but he had to do ridiculous training and dieting to do so.

My worry would be that if the weighing doesn't come back as positive as you'd hope you'll take it really poorly and make mistakes. 1.5 stone loss would be excellent and manageable - especially with a quality diet programme

Before last week mate i would have agreed with you on that. My aim now after having access to a regular weigh in is that i make the figure drop each week. I say 3 stone by then because that is the end result i want to be at before i then either settle or start the gym to lose any more. but when i say 3 stone, it is only 4 pounds a week, which is highly achievable with regular exercise. Taking into account i have the excess weight stage where i can burn it quicker if i get up off my arse regularly enough.

If i don't hit that mark but at least make them scales drop each week then that us now still progress for me. Those 36 inch pants are there to remind me how much bigger i am than i should be, in fact me at my normal weight should be in 30 inch waists and at most 32. I have stayed off buying new clothes so i can drop more inches in that regard before i do.

It's not just soup mate. It varies from day to day. So day 1 is soup and fruit, Day 2 soup, no fruit and then a jacket potato and veg in the evening, days 5 and 6 there's steak (or chicken) and veg, it's quite tough but once you've done it once and know you can hack it for a week, then it's easier to re-visit it if you've got a few pounds you want to lose very quickly.

i will look that up mate! haha cheers. I genuinely thought it was boil some water and cabbage in a pan for 7 days and have that morning noon and night, like a charlie bucket diet.

I am sure others have offered the same advice, but just in case - exercise, fresh produce, veg and meat or fish, cut out bread, potato and sugar until you have lost weight then eat in moderation, have wholewheat pasta instead of normal.

Once you have got it off it's easy to keep off just by being a bit disciplined.

Changed my diet 2 years ago and have never looked back and I am a bit of a foodie too so enjoy nice stuff.

Yeah that is some of the things i have been sticking to at my best to be honest. Last time i ate pasta was about 2 weeks ago in a little plate of brocolli bolognaise, before that another week for tuna pasta. Bread i avoid where i can, had a baguette yesterday for lunch but generally i have eaten it probably 5 times? In 5-6 weeks. Sugar has been the biggest cut out though, no chocolate, no sweets, the odd ice cream with the kids, and then that is it. Hell even have a pack of 4 muller lights bought last weekend still in the fridge!

But yeah, that is generally what i try to do. Last week aside, most meals do have fresh veg, and trying to eat more fish as well where i can.

I have wholewheat pitta bread instead of bread, try that if you haven't already. When I have an Indian I cut out the rice and just have chapati as well.

Lot's of eggs, I also like greek yoghurt and have that with chopped nuts and raisins which is nice, or wholewheat porridge for breakfast with banana or a bit of honey.

Really enjoy the food I eat but treat yourself too sometimes.

I haven't moved into that yet, but will start looking at the whole wheat stuff as an option if i ever to end up eating bread. In terms of the indain i eat half a plateful now, not the most healthy curry i eat but only half a plateful so it balances out to some respect lol

When i get round to buying my salads in i want to start putting more eggs on it yeah. Don;t live near a supermarket that does decent bags of salad so been difficult to get them but throw some eggs and fish in a salad, maybe not at the same time though haha
