New Everton Stadium

Just drop this in here

I heard Gerald Ratner was hired to broker the deal.

Great brand recognition for Hill Dickinson because they will always be mentioned alongside Everton every time we play at home, in every newspaper and every broadcaster who covers it - great for them.

Wonder if they (Hill D.) can bring something to bear with the regeneration, and potential purchase of Nelson Dock.

Would be interesting to know what Colin Chongs take on this would be, not that we would ever only get the corporate sanitised version.

There is something about two Liverpool institutions coming together like this, and it doesn't harm the clubs case for broader support for regeneration of the docks and North Liverpool, and enhanced transport infrastructure.

Helping each other to help the city should enhance that case, as there is practical effect to it with this sponsorship. It's also telling in the same week the club committed to retaining Goodison for football under Everton stewardship.

We do lack global visibility and need to address that but it can only be done through on-pitch success. Perhaps it's naive to think sponsors were going to queue up, they get behind football success not construction success.

For now at least, Everton in the Community is not just the clubs charity arm, I hope they can acquire Nelson Dock too and in time in can be said that Everton was the catalyst and driving force for regeneration of the area.

As soon as sponsors get involved in naming anything you are open to any bad press that company gets, so if they’re paying the money, given our situation on dodgy ownership over the past few years and the points deductions etc. they are much more exposed than us for bad press.

Same risk goes with big corps if they’re involved in scandal then we are exposed to that press.

As long as the money is right I don’t mind it, logo is suitably ‘quiet’

Need to get rid of Stake now.

@davek is forum treasure. You just know his eyes lit up when he saw that stadium name: "That's my material for the weekend, right there!"

I'll say this, though: whatever we think of this new naming deal, these owners have certainly set their stall out given the weekend that's in it. This is going to be a very different Everton from Monday onwards. While a huge part of me laments that - the bit up to 1987 - I can't say a total reset isn't badly needed. We have been living like zombies on past glories, faded dreams, and sepia-tinged sentimentality for 35 years. We'll see a lot of tears on Sunday. Many will be heartfelt and sincere. Some will be for an Everton that absolutely has to die.
Does feel already that the Everton we know now won’t be the one we know in 12 months never mind 5 years.

Cleared huge chunks of debt, finished the stadium, brought in people with knowledge of their actual roles…fired a unpopular manager. Signed one who has brought stability.

Then naming rights on a new ground…whether you like the name or not.

They have been here 4 months. Thats an awful lot of change and in my view most of it positive.

The transfer window will be the acid test for many…but again this stadium deal broke with no leaks/no ITK…when did we last have owners who just went and did it.

No sky interviews or talksport…just actions.

If it ended up with the nickname "The Hill-Dixie" I can live with that.

The name Hill Dickinson is a bit unfortunate bcuz it's a mouthful and doesn't roll very well.

I get people wanted Toyota or something but these guys have obviously paid top wedge and they're a reputable massive company with history in Liverpool.

Slightly unfortunate name but a good deal if people can calm down abit and see it objectively.

When you think about why would a well known name, pay to have their

Yes but they are selling a service, they would have to seriously ramp up their personnel to deal with all the new clients that they need to pay off the cost of this sponsorship, there just no way that it is 10m per year
To get substantially larger they would be involved in a merger/take over/be taken over. They would then decide what they would be called. Hill Dickinson Davis Campbell was a previous incarnation

Its not the deal, its only the name that people are pissed with, it is terrible but for me it doesnt matter, i will always call it Bramley Moore regardless of who got the naming rights.
To be honest i have never, in my entire life said “I’m going to Goodison”! I am either going to the match, or meeting someone at the ground. That is all I will say when we move, I genuinely don’t see why people are wetting themselves over it. money in means players in, couldn't give a flying one what some corporate meff wants it called.
