New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Everton fans have had a torrid decade and we haven’t been given anything to be excited about. A decade of pure anxiety, even when we’re winning 2-0 it’s not safe.

Relax the fans and the atmosphere will come but it starts with the team in my opinion. Rightly or wrongly, fans aren’t cheerleaders and in general, prem home fans don’t get up for it in lames like this

One thing I really miss is the seat clattering when we attack.

The atmosphere will get there once the football improves.

We forget that this time last season we sat near the bottom facing another relegation battle. Since then we have lost half a squad and brought in 9 players but still a lot of work to be done both on and off the pitch.

My thoughts having now been for the first time.

The stadium is immense when you walk up. The outside plaza area is good. all very smooth and coordinated getting into the ground. Plenty of space in the plaza and the concourses.

Beers are reasonably priced. Food prices are shocking. I did get some of the salt and pepper chicken but for £12, 3 pieces of chicken and a handful of chips is poor (but first time so needed to experience being ripped off by them)

Half time, no issues with toilets where we were in the south stand. Straight down and in. However took me until about a minute before the 2nd half to get a pint (from the pass through thing), which I then had to drink very quickly.

Atmosphere felt good at the start and during the build up but then subdued but it has been a crap September.

Still unbeaten at BMD which is a positive.

Sandhills was a bit of a joke. Felt the system outside the station was well organised and well signposted. Then they let us on the platform for the Southport train and let way too many of us on so the train was full. They were then trying to get us to move out the way as they started letting headbolt lane and ormskirk passengers on the platform.

Structure of the South Stand looks ok to me. But where I was, there were too many people either sitting in silence or just moaning tonight. View attachment 326962
The Upper South is sat all game, and probably will do every game. Will they stand for a derby or a big game though?

With the stands being so steep, this encourages fans to sit. When fans are sat they don't help create the atmosphere they only join in with an atmosphere that's already created elsewhere.

The stadium isn’t designed for late-comers. I loathed midweek games at Goodison because of getting away from work, but BMD is worse - too many bottlenecks getting into the plaza and the small number of turnstiles which serve the lower East and North stands

#walkgate update. 35 mins from The Ship to Block 205. And same again leaving 205 to Shenanigans bar.

The paint is barely dry .
Most new stadiums take time for fans to settle into.
And remember goodison was hardly bouncing every week.
Did the club genuinely liase with fan groups about generating a 'singing section '.
We all heard the blue wall expression, but without being pedantic...what colour would it be,we play in blur ffs....

People’s expectations of atmosphere just because it’s a new, bigger stadium are crazy. Plenty of games at goodison like last night.

The issue is made worse by the fact people are still getting their bearings. Plus lots of games have been moved for tv so fans are passing on or selling tickets to people who are coming and maybe expecting an experience rather than trying to contribute to one.

I think we’re also yet to have THAT moment. Thought the roof would have come off had we got a goal late on last night or against Villa.

People just need to give it a bit of time.

This.
We’ve lost our Matchday routines, people we sat with, and it’s going to take time for the atmosphere to sort itself out.
For me there’s too many day-trippers at the moment while everyone gets their first experience. Different people have sat next to and in front of us each game yet the seats went early in the season ticket sale process.

As much as I hate it, the club should have looked to sort out a singing section in the lower South.

Something has got to be done about the about atmosphere. We might as well have a soulless bowl for a ground if that's the kind of atmosphere we can expect. Its worse then having a soulless bowl because you can tell that the noise would be unbelievable if anyone was arsed. I'm sick and tired of "shall we sing a song for you" and "we forget that you where there" being the most sung songs at our home games.

I honestly think there will be a big drop off in season ticket renewals next season as many older fans are going to see it for one last time.
I am not sure about the stadium it certainly isn't built with older fans in mind the walk to and from the ground, plus the stairs leading to the top tiers is a struggle for me.
I don't want to moan too much as the drop off of older fans maybe a good thing as it may create an opportunity for younger fans to get tickets.
Personally as a pensioner paying £70 a pop (twice this week) is hard to justify and with the winter coming in am not sure if this will be my last season.

Not sure if someone has already mentioned, whilst I liked the 'light show' last night.... I didn't really get / understand the music choice for it. Surely there is something better and fitting. Don't think that did anything to help get the fans going.

It felt a bit plastic to me. A little bit “oooh look at us with our fancy lights stadium”.
The music choice was wrong - Right Here, Right Now? We’re not Brighton!!
It’s all for the TV image.
The lights work with with the siren and z cars, but the rest is just phoney nonsense.
