New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I understand why they did it, their global fanbase is so big that they'd fill a loft converted stadium regardless and it makes sense to increase that to 60k plus rather then building a brand new stadium on Stanley park

I don't know how their hospitalilty on the hole punch compares to BMD but I imagine it's second rate but they'll have huge demand regardless

Be great to see them losing out on stadium gigs though
The prices people pay for the hospitality there is ridiculous something like £800 per match for a seat with a bit of a buffet and a programme.

Howdy, I'm a Hearts man, always had a wee soft spot for you lot though. We've also got Beni Baningime here, came through at Everton, and we loved Simms on loan.

In short, I'm honestly gutted for you, leaving Goodison behind. Obviously the new place will be amazing but there's something about walking the same streets your fans have walked for decades. The hopes and dreams, the joy of victory, the disappointment of defeat. Thousands and thousands who care with all their hearts, coming together with the same purpose, you can feel it in the bricks around you, smell it in the air.

I live fairly close to East Stirling's old ground, even there, you can still feel it on the walk up, and their crowds numbered in the hundreds!

Anyway, I hope it goes well, you deserve better, and hopefully the extra numbers will make a difference.

I'm so glad for you that you didn't lose the last derby, onwards and upwards!

(and Hearts, Hearts, Glorious Hearts!)

Last night was the start of me getting a bit misty eyed about leaving Goodison. Probably coincided with buying our tickets for the new stadium yesterday and obviously the result.

I spent a lot of the evening just taking it all in; the walk up, the dirty streets, the tight walkways, the stairs and the smells. Every bit of chipped paint work, every wooden seat and obstructed view.

It’s never going to be the same again. The new stadium might produce new great memories (fingers crossed) but it’s never ever going to have that raw, combustible energy that permeates from Goodison. There is no doubt the stadium wins us points.

I ended up in a different row when Beto scored. Not sure that will happen in the safe standing.

Maybe part of it is age, I’m right in the midst of my 30s and I’m noticing the creep of nostalgia into my brain, but football continues to move away from what I truly love about it. Goodison is such a physical representation of that love and, despite how glorious it looks, BMD in many ways symbolises that movement.

Football is just different now. It’s cleaner, it’s shinier and it strives for perfection. At every level. Even Marine are eyeing up a new ground.

I’m sure over the years I’ll learn to love the new stadium. I’m excited to go and visit on Monday. But it will never be the same and
I’m sure when I tell tales to my son about coach welcomes and the roar of Goodison, it will seem like a different world.

A few more games left. I’ll keep soaking it all in.

BMD is magnificent when you see it in person but it has a lot to live up doesn’t it? It has a chance but it will take time to make it fully home. It offers lots that Goodison cannot there are some things that will also be lost. Hopefully we will create a lot of happy, winning memories there to build its identity quickly.

I think we are so excited for a fresh start it will be a swift transition to feeling like home. If we were winning trophies at Goodison and then switched - as say Arsenal were at Highbury, i think that would change the dynamic.

It's the people that make the noise and the same people will be at BMD. This may change over time if people are being squeezed out price wise.

We are constantly being told by the media what we should do or more precisely shouldn't do.
We shouldn't sack our previous managers because they were the best a club like us could expect.
Now we already have started hearing about all we lose by leaving Goodison.
What about all we gain ?
Increased earning capacity,
13,000 extra Evertonians in the ground to make even more noise.
Fans make the stadium, not the other way around.

I think what I'll miss most about Goodison is the same thing that I'll miss least - and that's its idiosyncrasies.

BMD is pristine, and consistent in the extreme.

Goodison has weird bits - and not even the obvious like St Luke's - or the Park End, Main Stand and Gwladys / Bullens being from three entirely different ages.

Last night, during the celebrations after the equaliser, I found myself taking in the join between the Gwladys and the Bullens. The way the top tiers don't quite line up - and the unusual seating blocks in the lower tier.

I do love the way its been cobbled together over generations - even though it's a huge pain in so many ways to get a decent seat with a decent view and I'm looking forward to having a stress-free view of the pitch wherever I sit in BMD.

If you`re going there to watch Everton it won`t be stress free!
