Not new stadium related but does anyone know why the park end was only built to this size (5750 capacity according to Google) and never expanded upon? Seems like there’s plenty of room behind for extension.

A combination of bad timing and unambitious ownership. It was designed and planned in 1992 when we had an average attendance of 19,500. Attendances were up to 36,000 within a year of the stand being built. It would have looked amazing as a double-height stand.

The least they could have done was put two tiers on it so the stadium was "complete", as it were. That single stand always looked naff.

Total lack of ambition, it was funded largely from a grant and instead of two tiers with executive facilities, or wrapping it round to join with the bullens we went for the cheapest option possible

They looked into a two tier stand but didn't want to pay the extra 2 million it would have cost.

From what I read it was built for the future expansion. It was backed further back from the pitch from the original partner.
