I have walked from Town to BMD. It isn't that far and if you think it is then you need to get out more and exercise.‘So get an Uber, or a bus, or train to Sandhills. Or just walk from town….to bramley moore dock’.

to be fair mate some people have injuries or are just old. I currently walk from Lime street to goodison and BMD isnt as far as that.I have walked from Town to BMD. It isn't that far and if you think it is then you need to get out more and exercise.
It seems like it's going to be chaos. At least at Goodison there's various directions you can disperse and get away and the links around the stadium are quite good. At BMD, it seems to be one way out of the stadium and then into town and hope for the best!
Meet up at The NorsemanI've got two more spaces left in my hovercraft if anyone wants to message me. Will be leaving Birkenhead at 1.30pm every home game, landing in Stanley Dock in time for a quick pint in the Titanic Hotel and a fight on the Dock Road.
Anyone had any thoughts yet if/how spirit of the blues song may be changed from the “get down to Goodison park” bit? When in new stadium?
No need to change the songs.a lot of the songs mention goodison, was wondering this
will likely get a few ‘woke’ shouts here but feel like royal blue jersey should be a big song at the new ground with the lyrics referring to the royal blue mersey. but a lyric about hanging people is just bad taste now i think. needs altering
what are you thinking then mate, electric chair or lethal injection?a lot of the songs mention goodison, was wondering this

Dangling a koppite or two by their arrogant, self important nadders on the banks of the Royal Blue Mersey would be worth an hour or two kettled in Sandhills station.a lot of the songs mention goodison, was wondering this

Add to it, the club are predicting (or maybe hoping) there'll be more fans going into the ground earlier and staying later, with the bars and Sky Sports. There will of course be a pinch point getting through the exits in the wall, presumably the big gates between the towers will be open which should help a lot. Goodison can be described as chaos, as no matter what direction you're traveling it feels like you are on the opposite side of the road with all the oncoming foot traffic. Least at bramley moore we're all traveling in the same direction.
Folk in the lower east will hit the plaza 5 minutes before anyone in the West side of the stadium. You'll get the early darters that will make it a few less thousand to go through at the same time, practically the whole West and East upper may be inclined to stay on for a bit.
I believe it won't be half as bad as people think. That said like you have pointed out, onward journeys by car or public transport thereafter, might be a problematic. That's pretty par for the course when it comes to leaving big events though. If you leave Goodison a bit early you have a chance of cutting out a lot of waiting, if you are in with everyone else it's going to be at least an hour in traffic.
I reckon the lads saying they'll park in Kirkdale and do the Boundary street hike are probably the ones who'll be home first.Add to it, the club are predicting (or maybe hoping) there'll be more fans going into the ground earlier and staying later, with the bars and Sky Sports.
I think I'll spend a bit of time prior to the test event next week sorting out the best routes in and out.
what are you thinking then mate, electric chair or lethal injection?
Will take a bit of work to squeeze the extra syllables in though
Just name a stand (the east stand) after Goodison and we're good to keep all of the songsNo need to change the songs.
Marching down the Goodison Road
All the windows open wide
When your hear a copper shout ‘hey, put that candle out’
We are the Goodison gang
We've got no manners, We spend all our tanners
We are respected, Wherever we may go
Marching down the Goodison Road
All the windows open wide
When you hear a copper shout ‘hey, put that candle out’
We are the Goodison guys
We still sing that, despite tanners going ages ago!
We will always be the Goodison gang.
walking weekends is fine but midweek games means its the 'last train gamble', miss it and its a night kipping in the stationi know for many its the only option but driving the match is such a bad experience imo. if you can walk then bramley moore is great from town
i usually walk from hope st to goodison park and back, will miss the pilgrimage
absolutely beats sitting in traffic on queens drive
