What is the point in having those safety ropes all over the roof, there are guard rails all around the perimeter of the roof. They are just randomly places around the roof and i think they look naff?

Because there is still little bits of work to be done up there, so for health and safety regs I think they have to remain in place

There will be a permanent set of worksafe hook points around the whole roof even after completion of the work

Also what feels like a gentle breeze at ground level is a whole different ball game when you're on a roof. Wouldn't take much to whip you off your feet and over an edge at that height right at the rivers edge.
(The wind baffles etc being fitted on the dockside are proof of this)
