Agree with this wholeheartedly to be fair. It always makes me laugh when they go on about you guys or Chelsea buying the league. What did they buy VVD/Keita etc with, magic beans? Everyone is trying to buy the league, just some teams have more resources than others.
Ironically I think it's taken you to get Pep to truly unleash your potential as a club. Yes he's spent loads of money but no more than others, but his ability as a coach is delivering on it. I think he could build a Fergusan like legacy at your place, but I know he's mentioned about retiring pretty soon, so you will need to twist his arm a bit!
Chelsea are another good example. People say their policy of sacking managers works, but I think they have under achieved given what they spent. Imagine a world were they don't sack Mourinho in 2007, and let him ride out a bad period and truly build a legacy. I think it's hard to see anyone being near them, perhaps only you guys now. The same is true of other top managers they've had and let slip too.
But it's suddenly become ok for RS to buy Van Dijk for a reported 75ml who is 20 ml dearer than our most expensive De Bruyne for 55ml. And however much Kieta will cost won't be for magic beans.
Rags have signed Pogba Lukaku and Di Maria, all considerably more expensive than KDB, but it's ok as everyone knows we are 'ruining football' while they are 'investing in players'.
The game is all about money, we never started this. But because our owners are backing the club(speculate to accumulate) all the way, throughout the whole infrastructure of grass roots academy to first team, and buying top quality progressive players below their peak, we are slated as ruining football. Apart from Robinho, we haven't signed any galactico players. Ok we've bought s lot of players for over the odds prices who haven't worked out, but any club in our situation at the hands of ambitious owners would do the same.
Some clubs fans resent us for it. Perhaaps jealousy that we are able to compete with anyone. But the building of our academy was built for us to try and produce the next Messi than go out and cherry pick the ready made stars at their peak that Man-ure are now trying to sign.
As for 'Pup Frauduola', he has proved me wrong as i didn't believe he could play his sweeper keeper high press so well and efficiently. Total transformation from last season, and all the signings are below their peak age.
But money aside, it is evident that he is a great man manager, and the players buy into his philosophy of playing. The team play as a team and harmony in the squad is great to see from my POV.
A total contrast from yesterday's man Maureenio who as undoubtedly has big problems in the dressing room caused largely by signing Sanchez. He was supposed to of signed for us January or summer but the deal on our table was renaged on by Sanchez and his agent, hence him going to Man-ure.
