I do think it's a massive summer ahead.

If they choose to keep Moyes which I think is a huge mistake, I don't think he should get any form of extension, it would send out the complete wrong message.

But they also need to go out and ensure we sign good players that will excite fans.

A poor summer without adequate recruitment after the season we've just had will lose many fans.

I agree with your Moyes comment but we won't lose many supporters; we will just all be back next season.

If they give him an extension, we will still be here.

If we buy "experienced" players, we will still be here.

We will all be pissed off, but we will all be here.

And they know that; sadly.

If the owners don’t spend proper money this summer, it doesn’t look good - hopefully they realise this.

Minimum requirement:

Manager
2 full backs
Centre back
Centre mid
Striker
Winger

That's the crux of the issue for me. If they don't extend Moyes and buy players that fit their "model" there's a really solid chance he won't use them because they aren't his "trusted/experienced" players. What's the point of sticking with a manager in the last year of their contract and bringing in players he won't use at that point then?

I don’t understand if apparently they wanted Iraola as first choice when Dyche was here and they intended to move for him last summer, why on earth they would pass up the opportunity to move for him now that he is literally a free agent. It seems like they don’t have a clue what they’re doing and are making it up as they go along in my opinion.

Or they have and he doesn't want it? We don't know what goes on in the background.

It would have leaked somewhere if we’d spoken to him. Plenty of reports suggest he wants to stay in the PL too and some have even said he’s privately named Everton as a destination. I don’t believe he’d turn us down unless he had a move to a mega club lined up.

We’ve been running at a loss for over 20 years

If they wanted a return on their investment they wouldn’t buy a football club they would just invest their money in bitcoin or something
So, assuming this is true, and WE ARE NOT just a financial move for them, what then is their motivation and what evidence of it, is there? I think we can see they are not diehard football fans and seem to have no known infinity to the club, city or country, so if you take out the safe financial investment aspect, which incidently raises their own portfolio ( being a PL owner is still prestigous), what is there??

We are an asset .
The stadium makes us a valuable asset.
Premier league participation enhances that asset,
They have stabilised the club financially.
They have also raised prices exponentially.
They have given no evidence that beyond improving our profitability and stabilising our league position ( all welcome and necessary) they have any interest in driving success on the field.
No surprises really , I think we all knew what we were getting.
I await to be pleasantly surprised and proven wrong but there are currently no indications I will be .
Same point, i was trying to make, but you made it it far more succinctly:)

We dont know if the owners have sounded his agent out and got knocked back. Or if we have sounded any other manager out. If they have sounded Glasner and Iraola out (or maybe another top candidate) and been knocked back then fair enough to stick with Moyes until someone the believe will take the club forward becomes available.

We may never find out, im just saying that I hope they are doing stuff in the background at least.

The issue then becomes Moyes himself. You cant have him going into next season knowing he has no chance of an extension. With the current and potentially new players knowing that too. He either needs to go or be given an extension.

Imagine Everton being run that way. Having the foresight to target and get a new manager because a better one became available, and saying thanks and goodbye to the old one.

Bit like identifying and targeting players and getting them in when the transfer window opens, instead of waiting until half an hour after the transfer window closes at the start of September.
