Who has said Benitez is the best named manager around? The board? Can they be trusted? I can pull names out of a hat as well but I do know that at least 2 possibly 3 of those names would do as good a job as Benitez - get us mid table. That’s all they need to do to be considered a massive improvement.

We don't know that though - no one predicted Moyes would get top 6 last season.

No one would have predicted Carlo Ancelotti would finish 10th and 12th when we were all expected top 6/7 finishes under a "world class" manager.

Thats the problem we are not willing to give the bloke a chance and already have played out weird nightmare fantasys in our head of us finishing 15th playing awful football and getting tonked 12-0 at Anfield with that lot singing his name.

He could make us solid, sign a few good players and finish 7th and win a derby and then some fans look VERY silly for writing him off before a ball has even been kicked.
