Yeah something like that. I am allowed to freelance as well as do my day job, so the last 2 months I have pulled in almost the same salary as my day job from my freelance work.

So affordability is there, it's just getting past the creditors.

But I may well afford to spend as much as £500 a month.

It would be prudent to round that figure down, just in case.

Plus your Porsche would get scratched to [Poor language removed] on the Wirral.

I would go for a Kia Rio or a Fiat Punto. Do be honest I dont really care much for cars. I would probably get a Toyota Camry.

Diesel or Petrol?

Big car or not?

Sporty or classic? Station Wagon?

Personally, I like BMW's. I have a Skoda Octavia Combi TDI which is a pratical and logical choice. Good value for money. High mileage, 140hp, lots of space.

I have a BMW, also diesel, that I bought 8 years ago, all new. After 180.000 miles, it went for repair shop for a proper maintenance. Zero problems so far. Better chassis, the engine is smoother than the Skoda but probably not as fast. Not so smart buy because it was considerably expensier.

But if you want something out of ordinary, you should go with a Volvo or a Lexus or even a SAAB.

The Mondeo is also a great feckin' car, which isn't as valued as it should be. A Citroen C5 with the hydractive is a hell a of a car also. The Subaru cherish the boxer engine and the 4WD and they are sweet.

A lot of cars can fit the bill mate. Be more precise about the things you value in a car.

Audi's are pretty, and safe too.
I had a wheel come off on the motorway once in an Audi Sports and just pulled over to the hard shoulder amidst the sparks.
The wheel flew infront of me at about 2 bilion miles per hour, and luckily stayed my side of the carriage way, until hitting the wheel trim of a Citreon.

If you drive anything european around here you will get laughed at. Holden, Ford and Toyota country.
