Neville Southall is the undisputed king of Twitter

Seaman wasn’t fit to lace Southalls boots.

It’s disgusting how the big man has been treated and forgotten about by both the national media and his own club

He was one of the greatest ever goalkeepers the world has produced. If he’d played for the RS or Utd he’d be lauded

The man is a legend, and not the bs type of status that gets thrown about now; he was a proper legend of the game

The fact he's on the list is utterly mind boggling. He's the greatest keeper this island has produced. Better than Clemence, better than Shilton, better than Banks and so far ahead of Seaman it isn't funny. He has a genuine claim to the title of best ever, anywhere.

How footballingly illiterate do you have to be to come up with the suggestion he deserves to be on the list? Never mind going ahead and including him. Why wasn't it shot down by the rest of the staff? The leading football magazine and nobody said, 'erm he was fking ace. think how daft you'd feel if you nominated Schmeichel? Or De Gea? Cos he was better than both'.

The mystery is why he wasn't on it ever year from '84 to '91.

More ranty than i intended when i started lol but dearie me, that's wound me up.

Still remember that save from falcao away at spurs...unbelievable. Then his performance away at sheff Wednesday has to be one of the best goalkeeping performances by an Everton keeper. Best goalkeeper I’ve seen in my lifetime. Gordon Banks observed him in training during this time and said he couldn’t him anything, he was that good.

He was mesmerising.

Article is still condescending, mentions 'today's sweeper keepers' making out Nev was a slug who sat on his 6 yard box. He was quite adept at playing that role when required. It has obviously been written by a wet between the ears 18 year old who has never heard of let alone seen any of those players.

Watch any highlights video on youtube and it demonstrates he was a sweeper keeper before it was fashionable. All in all it's just an article born from extreme ignorance. Don't mean in the 'stupid' sense...the writer just clearly didn't have a clue and just put him in cos 'hur hur he got a bit fat hur hur'.

I’m only old enough to have seen him at the end of his Everton career. I remember his shouting all the way through the game, as you should!

Loved how he would gather in viscous shots that other keepers would miss or parry away. I assume that’s why he was called the cat?

Decent drummer also.

I can't believe he isn't an Everton giant, isn't he one of the few Everton players to be Player of the year?
I think I can feel a banner coming on.

Absolute joke, best player in the eighties era.

I remember when Howard Kendall was asked who was his best signing, and he said Neville.
Big Nev instantly quipped, 'I had to be with all the rubbish you put in front of me'

The rest of the team where hysterical.

An old story but just typifies the man.

Legend

Its a disgrace Kenwright has kept him away from the club when he was one of the worlds best - the Kopites would have him promote the club but not EFC.

Never let Kenwrights treatment of Big Nev be forgotten when that charlatan calls himself a massive Evertonian. One has done more for the club than the other could ever hope to achieve.
