Who'd have thought at the time of posting this thread it's likely to be the only footy on the telly next week?

"Play up Darwen".

finished second episode just now, it is meh, not overly impressed but will continue just to kill time and not break my 'never give up on something you already started' promise.

Seen the trailer for it and didn't know what to make of it. Footy people aren't going to like it because it looks like a Downton Abbey type drama/soap and the type who are into those shows are unlikely to watch it because of the footy aspect.

been watching this it's quite good. Just about how working men became teams to rival the Old Etonians and win the FA Cup, The FA Cup was everything to them in those days, now we cba with it it's sad really. It is a lot about the mills as well and shows how transfers and proffesional players started.

Is this a musical? Somone told me it is a bit like Glee but with moustaches.

No its a drama.

Not as heavy going as something like Downton Abbey. the focus on on the football mainly but a couple of characters, the Kinnaids, are fleshed out.

Its not strictly accurate either, as it shows the main character joining blackburn (just blackburn) where it was Blackburn Olympic that was the first team to win the cup from the north and the main character wasnt in that team. He played for Rovers.

Give it a watch anyway, its worth it especially at the moment while we are all stuck at home.

They basically amalgamated Rovers and Olympic. Jack Hunter who plays for Rovers in the show played for Olympic when they won the FA Cup. Can understand why given it's only a short series and they wanted to tell the story of the first professional footballer and the first working class team to lift the cup.

Yeah i can understand too.

Think its pretty entertaining myself, certainly worth a watch.

Spent ages on wikipedia last night reading about the early days of the fa cup.

I lasted about 20 minutes before binning it which is further than I expected to get. Its the kind of show you’d expect to see on a Sunday night on ITV.
