He’s never a lone striker in this league, he’s not big or quick enough. He’s been hung out to dry really but my god he’s looked about as composed as a lonely hospital patient in the 80s hearing the distant sound of a didgeridoo booming down the staffless corridor
I don’t think Cannon is a lone striker either, but he made runs, get into heading and scoring positions, protect the ball better and better ball control.

Lone striker or not is just an excuse.
 

I've always felt we brought him in because we needed a forward and it was an easily done deal.

It was obvious even before we sold Richarlison that we needed more up top yet the Club seemed to put their faith in Calvert-Lewin being miraculously fit the entire season. It was only when we looked completely toothless in front of goal did we go in for him - he was available all Summer.

He's never been prolific and doesn't suit they style we seem to want to play. We lump high balls to him it reminds me of us buying John Spencer when Walter Smith was in charge.
