Homepage Article NDiaye Upfront?

We should get back to the Beto / Alcaraz as a 10 partnership.

Worked very well in the second half of last season.

Accomodating all the new signings is showing signs improvement, we just need to work on the right blend.

We need Ndiaye's goal contributions from the wings in partnership with our strikers
Performing well.

Moyes isnt having Alcaraz. Unfortunately. And i dont see that changing.

Well KDH is banned so I Alcaraz must surely be the next cab off the rank at 10? In any event, though, I don't think it's as simple as "do that thing we did last year" when Grealish's arrival - while he himself has been excellent for the most part - seems to have stunted Illy's game somewhat. We can't revert to stuff we did last year when we've fundamentally changed how we attack.

N'Diaye up front seems like a no-brainer to me. Let Grealish keep doing what he's doing, sub in Alcaraz for KDH in the middle and stick Dibbers out on the right.

Think few have already called it. I wouldnt even raise an eyebrow is surprise if he just replaced KDH with iroegbunam.

We need to work out how to blend a bit of Beto's scoring form from last season into this seasons improved attacking options, rather than chop and change dramatically.

Find an adjustment that just clicks.

We don't have the quality at the back to be able to play out of a front press, so our strategy (like even the top teams) is to mix it by going long from time to time and hoping it sticks or that we can get around a big lad and win the second balls.

Playing Ndiyae up top wouldn't allow us to do that so I dont think is a goer.

However he is a predatory finisher, and getting him closer to the goal is important. We achieve this either by sticking him as a second striker/ten, or (the way we currently play) getting him to drift in from wide. Thing is, without an attacking full back on the overlap, when he does drift inside it is too congested

Tricky one

It's not really that simple though. Beto's goalscoring form lasted for 4 games, it's not like he's a proven goalscorer who's inexplicably lost form, he just had a good run of form for a couple of weeks, it happens. You're talking about his form 'in the second half of the season' but he only got 2 in the last 12 games last year, his current form is much more in keeping with what he's done before than the 22 day period in February when he looked good.

I think there's every chance Ndiaye would be just as isolated just as Beto and Barry have been. I really want to see Ndiaye back on the left, with Grealish as the 10 and KDH moved back into midfield once we serves his ridiculous ban. I think we'd have much better balance and it frees up a slot on the right to give Dibling a go.

When we signed Dibling I thought this would be the midfield, with Gana/Garner/Rohl/Tim next to KDH. It is probably a bit offensive for Moyes and I’m guessing he’d change it to more defensive against better teams but I think it would work.
