Oh wow.

The Pelicans are off to an awful start. Any rumblings @SerenityNigh?

To be fair the Pelicans have been hit massively with injuries. I think all of their starting five and some of their better bench players have been injured at some point.

Does/did he not get along with Harden?

Not that I know of. He clearly couldn't get the best out of the Lawson-Harden back court so maybe that's why he's gone.

Clippers are probably going to have a comparatively "meh" season this year

Can't see them making the Conference Finals, that's for sure

Fans will look back on this in 10-15 years time and lament what a great opportunity they let slip in Game 6 of the Conference semi finals last season

I wouldn't count them out yet. Bar the Warriors no one looks special in the West so far this season. When Chris Paul is back and fully fit and their new bench players settle in more they will be fine. All though I agree regarding the choke against the Rockets.

It was badly Everton of them, that's for sure

But yeah, when they're at full strength the Clippers are box office. Great entertainers. I think it's more a mental hump they need to get over. If they can manage that then they could be a truly great team

Golden State are immense though. Can't see Clippers taking them over 7 games regardless of how fit Chris Paul is. Same goes for everyone else to be honest. Still, you never know I guess

Results before Christmas aren't very meaningful, unless they affect playoff seeding. Pay attention instead to a team's health and new additions. After Christmas, pay attention to form.

A friend who is a Rockets fan told me McHale was ditched because he's not an Xs and Os guy. Found this from 7 years ago:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ba...n-McHale-not-an-X-s-and-O-s-ty?urn=nba,128193

"It was a learning experience," said Carter, who will see McHale and the Timberwolves on Wednesday at the Pepsi Center. "He didn't really know all the X's and O's, but he had a good assistant coaching staff that was helping him out with a lot of plays. He kind of let us run whatever we wanted.

"He was trying to draw plays, and it was like a little Etch and Sketch. Like a kid just messing around. ... He just gave the clipboard to the assistant coaches sometimes."

It's ridiculous what they are doing. Never thought any team would top the '96 Bulls. They may do it

Indeed it is...especially considering their head coach has been out this whole time. Walton won coach of the month for November but officially is 0-0 as an NBA head coach.

They are devastating when the go to the 'small' lineup: Curry, Thompson, Iguodola, Barnes, and Green. Small ball that can defend and rebound.

That GSW team...

95-96 Bulls by month
Nov: 12-2
Dec: 13-1
Jan: 14-0
Feb: 11-3
Mar: 12-2
Apr: 10-2

Will be interesting to see whether fatigue sets in later in the season, but a nice start

15-16 Warriors by month
Oct: 3-0
Nov: 16-0
Dec: 1-0
Jan:
Feb:
Mar:
Apr:

*They only need to go 52-10 (83.8%) the remainder of the season to match the Bulls' record, but given that they won 81.7% last year that's still no small task.
