I think you’ll find it’s been done before.

I know its been done before, I was around then and our government and FA at the time supported the ban, there was no appetite for legal redress as football hooliganism was a scourge of our domestic game too.

It was absolutely widespread, Luton Town (then a first tier -first division - side) banned away fans as did others. It was on the back page every week, some trouble at another league fixture.

Certain clubs fans were notorious (Millwall amongst several others) - they were different days entirely - even in European club football Heysel and fans killed - English clubs banned.

The appetite to abide by any ban was generally good, our government were taking steps to make it as hard for fans too - the FA was under instruction to abide by it and further measures such as high pitch side fences at all grounds were introduced.

The situation was on a different scale, its not surprising our government and FA supported a ban.

Yes this is likely, the success of the premier league clubs in Europe has delivered a body blow to the national side.

To take Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Danny Rose, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson, Dele Ali

As well as have to leave out Harry Winks from the squad due to recently recovered from long term injury and played the CL final

Plus suffer untimely injuries to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi

...has ripped the heart out of England's potential squad and left us decimated scrambling to put any side together.

If our reserves beat Holland, it will be a tremendous achievement and show there is real strength in depth in our set-up.

Holland are extremely fortunate to face such a team ravaged by so many effectively unavailable because of the success of the premier league clubs or injury.

Those players have played one game in 3 weeks, they’ll be fine.

Yes they're fit this play, but have had no preparation time and Southgate apparently thinks emotionally (mentally) wouldn't be right so soon after the CL final, reportedly considering resting all of them.

In This Thread: Some lads get their knickers in a twist because a handful of fans act like nobs and got a good lashing for it.

Again, downplaying it. Is there just a handful of fans singing that ten German bomber song?

If this was Liverpool fans you'd all be going nuts about it.

Seems to be with England, and from what I've seen; Chelsea and Liveprool fans, they tend to act disgustingly and embarrassingly when in large numbers.

Bullying small groups and throwing drinks at the police - never saw this behaviour when we had our European adventures a few years ago.

Like this sort of thing:

I'm sure if we saw any of our fans acting like them, we'd step in and stop it.

Didn't really happen in any major tournament from 2002 onward. There were some issues with the Russian supporters in 2016, but that's about it and Russian fans aren't exactly angels themselves and were actively attacking regular England fans who had just gone the match with their kids

It's overstated in my opinion. Not saying it doesn't happen but I think it's a far smaller minority than people like to act like it is. Not condoning that sort of behaviour, but to say that England should be banned from tournaments is a bit much. I don't recall you saying Montenegro should be banned from tournaments when they were racially abusing England players in the last European qualifier for instance
2006 there were a lot of bells in Germany singing about the war, throwing beer over locals and stuff like that. 2008 we weren't there. 2010 -2014 were more difficult logistically for that kind of "fan" and not worth the expense and bother just for a "tear up"

Is there an entire nation singing it? Downplaying it because it’s a handful of embarrassing muppets.
