2025/26 Nathan Patterson

Don't get the hate this lad gets.

He is a victim of circumstances - terrible management, woeful tactics and unlucky injuries.

We should be backing him for a good WC because so we can move him on or perhaps save a few quid buying a right back
Not going to save a few quid, we best be buying a right back, get him gone good performances or not. But I get what you’re saying hopefully he does well and someone comes in for him he’s been another waste of money.

….’hate’ is a very strong word, not sure I’ve seen anybody with that amount of dislike for the lad. Just because you don’t rate him as footballer doesn’t have to mean you dislike him.

He’s not a ‘victim’, he’s a very lucky lad and good luck to him for that. It’s doubtful he ever earns what he gets with us so I’ve doubted he leaves before his contract is up and I wouldn’t blame him for that. He might go on loan if there’s a club happy to take him and pay a % of his salary.

I suppose it’s possible he has a ‘Phil Babb’ World Cup but it’s difficult to see him starting games.

an excellent and accurate response

Did just fine when he came on the other day. Hard to judge him defensively after Curaçao had been reduced to ten men, but offensively he played much higher up the pitch than he's done with us when given opportunities to play this season and looked to get involved in the game.

In Steve Clarke he clearly has a manager who sees him as a solid back up option, someone who can be relied upon to provide cover for an injury prone Aaron Hickey and he'll probably get minutes at the World Cup, if only to protect Hickey. Always nice to see one of our players getting the chance to play on the biggest stage, and I'm sure it'll bring a smile to his online allies faces if the one they call "The Scottish Cafu" graces the field when Scotland meet the mighty Brazil.

I don't get the hate that many players get and have got. And it is not only an internet/social media thing. You hear it in the ground and in the pub on match days.

You haven’t spent enough time in his thread over the past few years then. There’s 3 posters who have made it very clear.
