Perhaps that is what is keeping him here.
I suspect what's keeping him here is the £40k(??) a week he's getting instead of the £10k(??) north of the border on a contract that has 1.5 years to run if not longer - well, that and the fact no one wants to buy a player who has had 4 or 5 significant injuries in a few years.

I doubt he'll get a kick under Dyche, but by the same token, whoever the manager is in the summer, it wouldn't surprise me the club just cut their losses on him if there's a sale to be made (probably back to Rangers for £4m). 🙄

Agree he’s never going to get a game under Dyche. He’s had too many long term injuries since he’s been here, unfortunately for him. Out of him and Myko I definitely think we tried to develop the wrong one. A good run like Myko has has had and we’d have seen, I think, a premier league right back. Myko is never going to be good enough, he’s had a million chances and he’s at his ceiling. Patterson will go, Myko will probably make 300 odd appearances, joke.

That's why I'm somewhat on the fence with NP. Came in as a young player, not a massive fee, plenty of potential, *could* have had the RB position for a decade, but has never had a run in the side either due to injury or manager/s didn't like him - ergo a bit unfair to judge him on a stop/start career.

On the rare occassions he's had a bit of a run I've quite liked him (think he's much better going forward than back - could possibly be ideal for right wingback with three center backs behind him? perhaps even wide right mid running forward in a 442/451 with a solid Seamus behind him maybe?).

The next 6-12 months has to be make or break for him here, no matter who the manager is. Would be typical Everton to sign a lad who never plays because he's always injured, and becomes the latest in a long list of players to slip out the door for nothing.

Don’t think it’s going to happen for him here, he’ll be gone. Just annoys me we’ve given Myko who is painfully average game after game to stink the gaff out with no development when if we’d given that to Patterson he had a higher ceiling. Can’t help feeling we tried to develop the wrong player. Think his defensiv weakness has been greatly exaggerated. That said he’s also just had too many injuries at important points. That first injury when he’d started the season well under Lampard killed it really, he’s never had a run after that.

Yeah I hear ya, but I go back to look who he is being "coached" by (and I use that word very very loosely!). Was brought to the club by a retired Rafael we pulled out of China, barely 5 mins later he's gone and Lampard is in the door who no one really knew what his level was, then Dyche comes along - a guy who has spent 10 years proving he generally doesn't have any interest in players who aren't senior, self-coaching pros who can do what he wants week in week out.

Whilst I cannot pin my flag to 'NP is a top prospect' or 'NP is a waste of space' the injuries alone negate the question. We cannot expect to kick on if our -supposed- first choice RB misses 50%+ of games. Sell him at a loss if anyone would even take? Loan him if we still have to pay wages? What must Roman Dixon be thinking? What must NP be thinking if Coleman & Young (two almost 40 year olds) are ahead of him?

Yeah not great for Dixon either. Think right back is a priority position, can’t have two 40 year olds next year and the young guys don’t look like they’ll make it.

Should be getting minutes but let’s be honest, him and Myko were abysmal signings.
There were lots of people jizzing their pants when we sold Digne. He was always going to be hard to replace - in theory, selling him and buying two young players with potential to develop sounded good. Neither has developed, for different reasons, and pretty confident neither will get close to his level on their careers. Abysmal business, as you say.

Should have had minutes today, game was crying out for a young pacy full back who could help pin Brentford back. Mykolenko was horrific, it cannot escape the players sat on the bench witnessing awful performers being kept on regardless
I get what you’re saying but honestly I’ve not seen anything from
Patterson to suggest he is what you’re saying. I don’t think he’s great going forward at all, it’s like the reverse of mykolenko where people seem to assume that because they’re particularly bad at one aspect of the game they must be really good at the other, despite there not really being any evidence of it.

That’s fair enough if that’s what your eyes tell you mate.
Mykolenko has had 85 premier league appearances and has 0 assists. That’s right, ZERO.
I think it’s safe to say that there isn’t a player in Everton’s entire squad down to the u18s, whether you’ve seen them play or not who could do worse than that as it’s not possible, especially when you are supposed to be trying for a goal against ten men.
