The performance put in by Nathan Patterson tonight was decent enough. Hopefully, he'll start getting a bit more game time with us as the season progresses.

Although not everyone agrees with me :D

Everton defender Nathan Patterson was “left for dead” while on Scotland duty, according to BBC Sport journalist Thomas Duncan.

The claim was made during the second half of the Euro 2024 qualifying encounter against Georgia, which Steve Clarke’s men drew 2-2.

Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored both goals for the home side, with Duncan blasting Patterson for his role in the second

Depending on the context, that could have been meant as a compliment for Kvaratskhelia rather than a criticism of Patterson. Kvaratskhelia's a cracking player, he regularly does that to much more experienced fullbacks.

The best player on the park got the man of the match award?

Shocking!

We'll need to let Rodri know how terrible he is at defending next time England play Spain and Harry Kane gets the MotM award

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli is literally one of the best wingers in the world right now

As for getting subbed off... It's almost as if the lad isn't getting much game time at his club and is lacking proper match fitness due to that

McGinn was more at fault, instead of staying behind Patterson, he’s drifted in front of Patterson leaving the space for the Georgian to cut inside and take the shot.
But there’s no doubt the Georgian is a quality player.

Havent seen the game or goals, but Kvaratskhelia is world class...

@bluestevon said we should have signed him the year before he went to Napoli.

Sometimes you just have to admire the talent and treat it as a learning experience for our player.

Imagine where we'd be with a winger of that talent :o

….and sometimes you have to stop making excuses and accept Patterson is not looking like the player we all hoped he’d be.

….no, but I’ve seen enough to not continually make excuses for him. I was very keen on us signing him but he’s just not looked the player I’d hoped. He’ll soon be behind two players at Everton that he shouldn’t be at this stage and that’s sadly down to him.

I fully expect the club to be in the market for a RB if monies allow, it’s just very disappointing.

I didn’t think so. He was Scotland’s best player 1st half. He looked a lot better than Taylor, the Celtic left back with over 100 appearances for them. His score posted above was obviously given by someone who doesn’t understand the game. He’s been marked down for being at “fault” for the 2nd Georgia goal. When anyone who knows a bit about the game can see that it’s John McGinn who was really at fault.
But anyway, it was a change in formation and personnel and it didn’t really “click”. So I don’t think any Scottish player really performed that well. But I’d say Patterson was one of the best out of the lot.

I thought he was decent. Definitely was one of the better players at getting us forward first half and some of his passes/crosses in were great. It’s true he didn’t get much help from McGinn and you need that if you are playing someone like Kvaratskhelia but actually second half he dealt with him much better.

It wasn't a score given by a single individual on the sofascore site:

"Sofascore ratings are generated by a sophisticated algorithm that translates hundreds of stats into one live number which quantifies a player's performance."

It's actually not a website I was familiar until someone posted it on another players thread on this forum.

So another embarrassing defensive performance then.

No wonder Dyche won't play him.
