….not too sure about the ‘defensive manager’ tag. The last time we played them at Turf Moor, their LB was continually getting to our bye line, he was probably the most attacking player on the pitch. In the game at Goodison (where McNeil scored), they passed us off the pitch.
Dyche has always said he's been put into a labelled box, and in his Everton career I do not see that box as ill-fitting. He has one plan, to lump it, his full backs aren't particularly attacking in his set ups. *Whether that is because its Patterson and
Mykolenko, that's another question.
I gave him a pass last season because he was firefighting, and he has been let down by by not having a striker. However he's not an adaptable manager. History shows he has one plan, and his plan is deemed good enough because of late subs. This is what a Burnley fan told me in work when we appointed him. Doesn't think his plan is the problem and for the first 70-80 minutes he wont really make changes.
Perhaps defensive isn't the word, perhaps a manager with a defensive "structure". Regardless, full backs should be thriving with Dyche with their defending, but he is struggling is Patterson. It's massively concerning that however old Coleman is now, he still comes right back in for me.
He's only 20 isn't he? or 21? It's not a write off yet, and we'd get a few million for him as well, but he is not showing any signs of progression.
