My thoughts on the possible signing of Landon Donovan.

Another loan in the future but with a much better view of a permanent at the end of it due to his contract at Galaxy running out.

We should have signed him full time three years ago.

Just keep signing him on loan. That will be fine I guess.

If we get Donovan and Dempsey for a combined £5-6m the exposure to the North American market alone will cover the transfer fees. Plus they're not exactly Li Tie and Li Weifeng; they'll do a very good job in the first team.

Sounds perhaps a bit optimistic, I would wager it'd be more £8m-£10m, but I'd like you to be right.

And I don't think there will ever be another Li Weifeng. Ever.

Li Tie was a more than capable player. He played a big part in the season he played until getting injured. Moyes wanted him before any sponsorship deals.

Li Wiefeng was crap like yeah.

I honestly dont think the US thing means anything in the grand scheme of things. We are already well known in the States.

I disagree, from what I read when we played Fulham with Donovan this year, it was a big deal in the states and they made quite a fuss of it. Hard to quantify but must have an effect.

Li Tie was cool, always injured though.

I think having the USA captain and if possible Dempsey in our side alongside the USA goalkeeper would help us become big in the states, they would almost see it as the 'American' prem team.

As someone in the US, I'll disagree. People here know the old big 4 - ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool. There is a fast growing awareness of Tottenham and City. Even so, if you ask most "soccer aware" but not avid fans who their team was, more often than not, the answer I get is Fulham. (I know, it astounds me too)

From McBride, to Keller, to Bocanegra, to Johnson, to Dempsey - they have had at least one american field player for a long time.

And in fairness, we've had Howard through it all, but goalkeepers are not thought of in the same way. Donovan's first stint did more to raise Everton in the American mind than years of Howard.

Dempsey, Howard, and Donovan all in the Everton team would be HUGE for us and our exposure, and the time couldn't be more right. The American market is RIPE and still largely unclaimed as far as EPL teams go. People have "heard of" teams, but most have never actively "rooted for" or considered themselves real fans of a particular team.
