And so it begins.. Saturday sees the start of another football season and I for one cant wait. It's been an interesting summer.. Moyes has moved on ans in comes Roberto Martinez after winning the fa cup with relegated Wigan..
Depneds what fans you listen too it ithere is a senseof renewed optimism from those who thought things had gone stale under moyes with his at times defensive negative tactics stifling US in big games while more fear his departure willl lead to us struggling as Roberto wont get the same response from the squad..
We need to give the new man time to stamp his mark on the club and squad. Preseason shows we will probably play more expansive football and at times a new formation with 3 at the back.. New systems will suffer blips and we need to be prepared for that..
Holding on the Leighton and the big Belgian are crucial.. We have added 4 players to the squad and have not lost anyone who would be seen as big losses.. This has to improve our squad. Howard looks to be our number one with jags and distin forming a solid centre half pairing.. Alcaraz adds to the squad and johnny is still here and when he is on form is still capable.. At full backs we have the best full back in the league In Leighton and one of the most improved
In Seamus.. And we look to have a gem on our hands in john stones..
Midfield is an area we probably still need improving but we have options.. Fellaini in his day is as good as anyone and I hope he plays the holding role.. Gibson is too injury prone but when he plays is a crucial player.. Ossie mixes the good with the bad but you cant question his attitude.. Ross Barkley is developing into a real talent.. Maybe at a slower rate than people thought but he is getting there.. Peanuts is not as effective as in his first spell but still does some brilliant things.. And in Kevin mirallas we have a player who coukd just be one of the players of the season.. Talented to the core.. The young Spanish starlet will surely add something if reports are to ve believed..
Up top jelavic has been slotting in pre season and you dont become a bad player overnight.. The jelavic of the season before last would cause defenders everywhere nightmares.. A boss slotter.. Kone may not be everyones cup if tea but he has and will score goals.. Big VIc will infuriate at times but he did improve last season..
There are definite grounds for optimism but been Everton there will be plenty setbacks.. Lets see whatever
happens.. Get us to Wembley bobby and challenge for Europe in the league.. Beat the red ****e too and you will capture the fans hearts..
Id love to be able to go every week and envy the fans who get to watch the worlds greatest football club every week.. But I will savour my trips to Goodison and will support the club as best I can from here in Ireland..
So come on Everton dont break our hearts or shatter our dreams too many times this season.. But it's great to have ya back.. COYB
