Of course it was. I don't understand the logic in trying to deny that it was. Probably the same logic that was employed when Germany tried to suppress and prevent the media from reporting the mass sexual assaults in Cologne on New Year's Eve.

Seems the definition of 'terrorism' is open to interpretation. For me, terrorism requires the notion that it is indiscriminate, usually done in the name of something, and has a byproduct of instilling fear in the public that they be next.
By that definition, a nutter going out and gunning people down because he's angry about something simply isn't terrorism.
But then frankly, I don't see much point obsessing over whether an act falls under a particular dictionary definition. It is what it is.
It is an important distinction, mate.
Unfortunately, there is an unholy conjunction of interests whenever there is something that could be classed as a 'terrorist attack'.
The terrorists, if it is an attack with a terrorist aim, succeed in their aim of sowing fear in the general population.
The media 'terrorists' such as the Daily Mail and Fox News achieve both their clickbait aims and their political goals of pushing all sides to extremes.
The political 'terrorists' such as Trump and Le Pen can profit from any act that demonises the 'other' over their supporters.
The administrative 'terrorists' in government can implement even more intrusive laws to infringe on people's privacy and liberty.
Good post. The peace process in Ireland was largely symbolic. Decommissioning of weaponary was pageantry. What was the key point was the decommissioning of mindsets. How you achieve that with ISIS is unknown.
