Frustrating player to me. He has this amazing low centre of gravity and incredible ability to carry the ball but his ability to see and execute a pass is not the greatest, particularly for a prospective midfielder - then there's the injuries too

Doubt he has a future here, mostly because his physical stature and the holes in his game mean he doesn't really have a natural position

I personally think we should give one of Gana or Schneiderlin a rest against Split and start Mo. There isn't really a point in having a squad if you aren't going to use it, and Mo can bring a little bit of that "Russian Roulette" excitement that Everton fans are dying for.

Assuming we don't get Dedonker I could see Besic taking a back up spot for Schneiderlin and or Gueye. I do think Koeman rates him and it was good seeing him make the bench last match.

He can play centre midfield and can also play in defence too. With the current trend of teams opting for three at the back and Koeman also using this formation it may be useful to use him as one of the back three. He has more pace than some of our defenders and would cope better when having to defend against quicker players running the channels.

I really think there's a good player there, it's a shame he has had so many injuries that has held him back a little, I really hope he has an opportunity this season and is free from any further injuries, he deserves some luck.

When Mo gets on the field, it must be some sort of record for the longest gap between competitive appearances; never having left the club in-between. Was it around January / February 2016 the last time we saw him on the pitch?

Sounds like he's staying here.

When asked about losing Barry, Koeman said he though he probably had enough midfield cover with Morgan, Tom, Besic and maybe Klaassen.

No mention of McCarthy there so he's gone IMO.
