Kid is a red card just waiting to happen, put in a couple of slidetackles that were moments from going wrong.

It's startling really but Besic is like litmus paper and proves without doubt that we have an enormous biff problem with out under thirty fans.

They've more in common than Evertonians with their over rating of average midfield players.

Barry was horrible last season. Has been much better this season and was alright today. Definitely didn't run the show and for whatever reasons I think they had too much space coming into our half. Not sure whether this was setup or personnel but our middle (up and down the team) looked lost when they had possession and I feel that is part of his job to organize the midfield and position Lukaku effectively. Definitely isn't the most pressing concern but it'd be nice if Besic can step up permanently or we replace Barry this summer and use him as a supporting character. As for Besic it's been a while since I've seen a player have such an effect on a game in such a short period, not the second coming but he played really well.

Absent McCarthy he needs to be in the pitch...when JM comes back...not sure if he's better than both GB and JM. But he was a port in the storm today for sure.

I rate JM very highly myself when fit. Besic is probably a better two way MF but I'm not sure that's what we really need at the moment with so many options going forward. I think Besic can be a real player though and I hope he gets a chance and takes it.

That means they were perfectly timed...what more can we ask. He was a game changer today IMO. Spurs ceased to have total control in the middle of the park.

This is where I think Besic has the edge over McCarthy. Both are ball hunters and break play up (McCarthy just edges that) but Besic is miles ahead with the ball at his feet.
