Agree 100%

He just seems to be held in high esteem by some sections more than he deserves too be for me.

He has the attributes to be very very good.

I worship him, for me, if I was to make the perfect footballer, it would be him, he gives it all on the pitch, he really, really wants to win, he is good on the ball, he can tackle and isnt afraid to get stuck in.

So yeah, maybe I do hold him in higher esteem than most, some players I just click with, some players I dont, we all need heroes.

He appeared on the pitch 20 times last season for a total of 560 minutes.

He received 1 yellow card.

To compare, Gareth Barry has received the most yellow cards of anybody in the Premiership era at a rate of 1 yellow card every 440minutes.

Its a myth that he commits fouls, he tackles superbly and often they are well timed, hard but fair.

Actually, when looking at the stats, I have to admit you're absolutely right. He wasn't a persistent fouler last season.

Strange one though. Every time I watch him I'm unimpressed with his overall contribution. Maybe that's only me.

If anybody has been impressed with the overall contribution of finishing 11th for 2 years then they are on the wrong forum.

We have under achieved massively for 2 years, but its about looking past that, its about looking at each player at their best and saying "Are they good enough", for me Besic would be the first name on any team sheet I would make.

@roydo.

His performance against City was the best by any player all last season. I can't think of a better one

And thats what we should focus on.

Honestly im not having a pop at anyone here, but the same myths keep getting said, injury prone, gives away fouls, faux hardman.

None of which is true, hes a whole hearted player that on the surface comes across as a very likeable person, hes just got a bit of temper when somebody tries to take the pee, havent we all?

Sure. I'm not convinced he's got enough about him for the premier league but I really hope I'm wrong.
If he turns out half as good as Barry that would be enough.

It's not that he has a temper that bothers me, it's that I get the impression that games pass him by when he's in the middle of the park. Seems to get caught out of position a lot. Again, just my opinion. Agree to disagree.

See its this part I'm not convinced off yet. Hard work is grand and all that but I've not seen a consistent run where I've thought "yes this lad is the real deal", notwithstanding his injuries.

Now he was very very good against City that night but I can't remember being as impressed before or after.

He just seems to have a section of apeople who rate him at the level he achieved that night, as though he has hit that consistently.

Up until the semi-final leg he was injured for he was our best player in the lead up games and IIRC won a few MotM awards too. His injuries have just hit him at the worst times.

People forget he is still young and every time he seems to be getting a run he gets injured.

He has tons of ability. A proper footballer. Whether he will realize all this ability at Everton, who knows?

Indeed, tons of ability, no doubt what so ever.
