His performance v Spurs was worse than anything Besic did here. He gave Kane what would have been three assists were it not for poor finishing. He's also not playing this game precisely because he racks up yellow cards through indiscipline and poor challenges when he is behind the pace of the game.

Martinez has got his entire approach wrong and has scapegoated a player that admittedly had a poor 45 mins. For me he's still a better player than Barry or McCarthy who are nothing players.

I'm riding him as he knows but @Saint Domingo does have a point in that it is churlish to write Besic off for that. He was one of many in that half that was awful.

At the moment Besic is better a bit further forward on the pitch.

Sure mate. I just find it weird that the poster who is criticising Martinez for playing McCarthy and Besic was saying this only a week ago:

Well, he got what he wanted - we got a view of them. For some reason Besic playing as the more defensive of the two and McCarthy pushed further up for no reason whatsoever as he's dire there, but we saw it happen, and it wasn't pretty.

Just arrived home, I'll watch the game back tomorrow, haven't seen it. He must played badly as he was subbed at HT (and reading all these comments), although I'm much curious about that because he's got very good stats on whoscored and the 3rd highest rating of the team. So I will tell my opinion tomorrow. Don't worry @MoutsGoat : it'll be fair judgement.

Poor overall performance from him but despite that he was still the only one of our players to get a shot on target.

Young players often learn more from shocking games than when they do well, hopefully he'll put on a better display vs Utd.
