When he played he was, hence why the fans kept booing when he was routinely subbed off, why he kept getting motm and why it was baffling that Martinez dropped him for a half for McCarthy.

He's had a poor 45 mins, like nearly every player in the 11. The difference is Besic doesn't hide so attracts the ire of the crowd when he's trying to make stuff happen. Nothing players like McCarthy get a free pass when he's done jack all in this game apart from wander around passing it backwards as soon as he gets it.

Martinez has got his entire approach wrong and has scapegoated a player that admittedly had a poor 45 mins. For me he's still a better player than Barry or McCarthy who are nothing players.
