I have my old mp3 player sitting on my desk doing zilch. Its a 20gb Archos Gmini XS200. Awesome player but I bought a Microsoft Zune 80gb which is fantastic. Better quality movies than my laptop :S

I always combine an mp3 player with a phone, Doesnt really affect the price of the phone and you just pay for the size of the memory card.

Of course you cant get them as big as a proper mp3 player but it saves carrying 2 items in your pocket.

Monty. Iv just bought a samsung 2GB ( which is about 30 albums) from currys. £35 an it has a FM radio on it, which most of them dont. Its top notch an only cheap. I bought better ear phones for it thou, because its always worth it.

have a look at that. its the 3rd one down. easy to use as well. pus i could always give you pointers if you needed.

Thanks for that Mr Lip, I just wanted a bog standard player compatible to Vista to use when fishing or painting. It will help me muse in the summer months when you lot are knifing each other on here

That one is as about bog standard as you'll get. easy to use an vista compatable. well worth a shout.

So any recomendations people?

And no i am not getting anything with an "i" in front of it.

Money not really an object.

I've owned 3 Sandisk MP3 players and they all have been good. I currently have a 8MB with 1.9in screen (4.5cm) that I bought for $45. I think its the e280 model.

Yeah i was thinking of a Zen before looking around.

I've nothing against an iPod really. But i want to be able to connect it up via usb and drag and drop all my music collection on to it, basically using it as a portable flash drive.

And from what ive heard that can't be done, can it? Dont want no faffing about converting files or removing copy protection or not being able to transfer files or anything.

you can drag and drop as a portable pen, but to get music to play on the ipod you have to use itunes
