I can't say I know much about Sociedad and obviously I hope he loses every game as the way he treated us was unforgivable on every level but my suspicion is that this might in terms of expectation be a decent fit for him as they appear to be a big enough club to avoid relegation comfortably yet they would probably be happy with a UEFA/top 8 finish. And let's face it he's a master of lowering peoples expectations of what can be achieved.
 
I am curious to see how he does. I don't especially wish failure upon him and I'm impressed he's taken on a real challenge rather than go to a Newcastle or villa which might have been more in his comfort zone.

Yep this.

Perfect role for him. Little needed to "turn it around" and guide them to 8th or whatever, and then he can try and play on the state they were in when he arrived for the next 10 years.

He's picked a job intelligently given his limitations as a manager. He'll never take a club down and in this instance he'd have to be incredibly bad to come even close to relegation.
 
I hope he does well to be honest, I know he was a bell after he left but when he took over he was brilliant for us. I think he definitely needed a job abroad, the media absolutely destroyed him when he was at Utd, he looked as though his health had deteriorated massively.

Wonder which one of our players, if any, he'll come in for?
 
Breaking news: Real Sociedad make £6m joint bid for Kone and Osman. Everton have labelled the bid "derisory and insulting".
