Moyes, Time for a change.....??????

Maybe it's an 'age thing'. As an older Evertonian, being a blue for me has been a real roller coaster ride.

I have seen us plunge depths and seen us scale the heights. I have seen us lift trophies and escape relegation on the last day of the season. I have seen managers sacked and felt the buzz of a new one installed - with all the optimism (misplaced or otherwise) of the 'new guy'.

To be fair, the vast majority of supporters of other good clubs have had similar rides. Compared to some though, our highs have been good ones, and we have, fortunately, never been relegated.

The current generation of young blues haven't experienced anything like this. The last 10 years have NOT been a 'roller coaster'. With few exceptions, each season has looked a bit like the other. Mediocrity, if you will. Nothing has been really dreadful overall, but there is no buzz for us fans.

But, what you've never had, you never miss. The younger blues think this is what supporting Everton (or any team for that matter) is about. Same old, same old - year in, year out - and it is killing the passion of a lot of fans.

I don't think losing hurts some fans as much as it does others. I don't think unattractive football is as much a turn-off for some fans as it is others.

I miss the 'new broom sweeps clean' that galvanises and unites the supporters. I have seen them come and seen them go. I miss the drama. :)

Has supporting Everton become like going to work for a place that's nothing to get excited about, but it pays the wages and 'at least it's a job'?

I feel I can relate to much of this.

I'd say I would accept the mid table mediocrity of recent years over the "close to death" relegation battles of the 90's, even if we did win a cup.

It's not good enough for the toff's given our illustrious history, I know that.

But we have been in far far worse predicaments than we are now.

Although I also agree with other people in that we basically have to find a new way to make progress and move forward.

But if the question is should we change manager, then give me a better option than Moyes and I'll let you know what I think.

Paul Lambert

We have some good young players coming through - yes not all of them will succeed, but they need to be given the chance. Lambert stated that the reason he bought young players and not 30+ PL mercenaries, was that he wanted young players who are hungry to succeed not just get another paycheck.
Norwich has experienced back-to-back promtions, and while the players are nowhere as good as ours, they play attractive football and don't go out determined not to concede but also not to try anything attacking.

This little exchange between Derek and Clive (Cook & Moore) reminds me a bit of some of our fans (and to an extent, our manager) regarding the current 'predicament'. :D

CLIVE:
And do you know what he did?
DEREK:
No.
CLIVE:
Nothing.
DEREK:
Good God.
CLIVE:
He immediately did nothing.
DEREK:
Yes.
CLIVE:
And this stupified the ant.

I think this is one of the best posts I've ever read on here, outstanding sir.

He's a big, blue tit. I've gone from worshipping him, to feeling apathetic, to being irritated to genuinely hating the man.

No - you can't ask any manager to do well with a -20M transfer budget. This league is all about money and we don't have any. That more than anything is why we suck.

Swansea and Norwich play better football than us and are higher up in the league.

They have tiny budgets and infinitely worse teams.

There's a time when we all become stale and go through the motions in our jobs and I feel that this is happening with Moyes and also some of the players. We need a change.
