Moyes Though ?

Yepp this. He gave away the pen against QPR, and then he stuck him in the ressies, and then shipped him to Leeds and Sheffield Weds.

The reality is, Moyes did not appreciate youth. Shrewd in the Transfer Market, yes... but a fan of youth? No.

It's even came out that he had sod all to do with Stones, so you can't give him credit.

Not heard the Stone's thing

I thought Moyes had been scouting him for a while?

Moyes record with our youth players is totally lamentable. The only players he gave a real chance to were either International class (or were, eventually, to become that) - Rooney, Osman, Rodwell, Victor - or already in the squad in the case of Hibbert. Every other young player was moved on before given a decent chance (Shrokdan - World Cup winner!!!, Duffy, Ruddy, Clarke, Baxter, Gosling, etc etc) - like 10 starts or more - Vaughan 8 starts, Barkley only 4 league starts under Moyes. Stones didn't get ANY game time off the bench.

Guess it's all to do with protecting his job - don't take risks, get those away draws etc. etc. The Normal Moyes style basically. Give Vaughnie 5 or 10 minutes - especially when it's too b...y late.

Yeah the Barnsley chief exec, has came out and heavily criticised Moyes hasn't he? because Moyes was like... "Not sure were they are getting this £3m for stones stuff, we only paid £1.5m", and he said Moyes was not involved in any part of the negotiations.

Steve Round was the 1 behind our defensive stability IMO.

You messing mate, the man was an absolute plant pot. There are numerous stories floating around that many of the Man Utd players didn't take him at all seriously and it made them lose faith in Moyes all the more quickly, they couldn't believe the coach he put in charge of their training was so amateurish.

Look where he is now, that tells you all you need to know really.

Some were rightly not played imo, the ones like Baxter, Clarke and Duffy were not good enough imo. But the ones like Mustafi, Vaughan (i know he was made of biscuits, but still), Gosling (Again, I know he was greedy, but his sheer audacity, to make him carry on playing against Wolves, when he was blatently injured) and Barkley was unforgivable.

Don't get me wrong, for the bad stuff with the players, he did get some gems, Cahill, Mirallas, Martyn, Arteta, Jagielka (What I believe to be the best bit of business by everton since the turn of the prem), Lescott and Howard. If i'm not mistaken, none of them cost more than £5m did they? There's probably a load i've missed. But you are 100% right Dan, Moyes was safety first on all fronts.

100% this. Irvine was the main man for me to be honest. He showed Moyes a lot, and Moyes adapted it into his own way. I know it's probably a coincidence, but when Round joined, we all of a sudden became crocked with serious injuries. I know you can't help bad tackles but look at the horrendous injuries we got in the first year with Round, Yakubu, Arteta and Jags got cruciates for a start.
