Moyes Though ?

Is moyes a better manager? Yes. Would I want him back? No. Lost my respect how he acted as Utd boss (insulting bids for felliani and baines when he was still technically being paid for by us). You say you should never go back in football and that is true with moyes. Thanks for stabilising the club and leaving it in a far healthier state, if kenwright was still in charge it's a goer. Don't and hope to see it happening with moshiri at the helm.

Short memories on how Davy boy was treated with the grim reaper at Goodison - I for one do not want to see hoof ball, or a failed manager after leaving us with a nasty smell back it never worked fot the great HK why should it work for dithering Dave??????
If RM is removed I would want a new blood to take us on not the past knife to a gunfight attitude!

There is a massive massive difference....
Both teams had hypothetical squads that cost 100m in either time period

Martinez wants a player that cost 30m.. he buys him and then has squad that cost 130m
Moyes wants a player worth 10m which we will say is back then's equivalent value.. He has to sell a 12m (35m) player to get him and has a squad that therefore cost 98m squad.. The other 2m subsequently disappearing.. lawn mowers.. Arteta money Bill? etc..
This happened many times, with only the odd occasion where we had positive spend actually worth mentioning.. we ended up with the equivalent of 1m a season spend.

But its not about how much more Martinez is spending than Moyes, as you say, its a different time now... its that he can just buy instead of breaking a bit of his squad to fix a different bit.
Martinez is short of striking options, he just spends 12m on a striker that doesn't get a game... meh whatever..
Moyes wants a striker, he has to work out whether to sell a quality defender or midfielder, or the youngster that is doing alright like Rodwell but is getting overhyped but may yet develop in order to get him..

Despite this, there is another huge difference between the two:

We improved under Moyes

Sorry I dont do net spend. All players have values so how far back do you go? And Martinez sold a few players himself. The 12M for Niasse (13 wasnt it?) is like spending 4M on a back up player a few years back. As mentioned above though its hard to compare fully but its not an eye opening sum any more.

Moyes spent a fair old sum on Beattie (it was a big amount at the time) and then proceeded to play him in a system that didnt suit him. You can break anything down really if you think hard enough about it.

Thus far Martinez has had an average amount to spend. The amount you would expect for a new manager. I see lots of people fuming as he has spent "loads" when its just not true.

24M on a striker isnt a massive amount any more. Its a fair old whack but its not crazy money either. And it was a signing that needed to be made as Martinez was left with no usable strikers when he joined us.

We did improve under Moyes yes, then we levelled out. We improved under Martinez in his first season too. We dont have 10-11 years to judge Martinez as of now. Moyes also spent a lot of money on wages (not just his own..) to keep certain players at the club, which is fine, thats his choice. He worked better with less to spend anyway as his big money signings were a bit rubbish really in the main.

Above average manager and that's it. I have no idea why we would even consider him, we need to be aiming for a top manager who's won trophies and has a track record of developing young players.

Wow, are you claiming Martinez has it harder than Moyes in the transfer window?
I appreciate you don't do net spend, or anything which shows Moyes in a positive light but you surely don't genuinely believe that 28m is not a lot of money, or that 13m is not much on a player that doesn't play?

Oh and even I don't want him back by the way.

The longer Martinez stays in charge the more appealing Moyes gets, Martinez is a pure myth of a manager, he's brutal.

Another season of Martinez and by Christmas everyone will be pining for DM.

I didnt say he had it harder....

But it is true that 28M (we paid 24 btw...) and 13M are sizable amounst but nothing massive. Dejan Lovren cost 20! 13M buys you a Fabio Borini these days.

Those people must never want to win anything again then.

Carsley was a Smith signing by the way.

As I mentioned above the fees can not be compared, relative spending to other clubs is a more accurate barometer.

Moyes wouldnt have signed Lukaku because he wouldnt have loaned him first because at the time there was no chance of it being permanent. Judging by his comments on TV lately he would have just lumped the ball up to him anyway.

I know smith signed carsley but it was moyes that for me - just my opinion, helped carsley step up and gain the recognition he deserved alongside gravesen.
At the time Yakubu was a good deal at £11m pounds, if you want to compare players values at the time then I think Romelu was a huge gamble at £28m regardless of time or era - he was far from the complete article.
I cannot believe that people would even compare moyes to Martinez in the transfer market, moyes had some money but nowhere near the money bobby has had - also considering moyes was here for best part of a decade, bobby spent a lot in just three years.
On paper this current team is better on paper but lets just see which manager and his team got consistent results ?!
I find a lot of people on here look for any excuse to find a stick to hit moyes with, was he a tool for his comments when he left ? Yes. Do some people forget everything he done for us because of the above comments ? Yes.

Ask yourself why we are all fuming with bobby ? Because we were used to European football with moyes, the style of play was sometimes abit rough to watch but as everyone says, we are in a results based business - again same reason we want bobby out.
