Counterpoint - it is possible to think that Moyes is great for our league position but is a pillock for not selecting a half decent team for last night.

For multiple reasons a) a chance at silverware b) create positive momentum for both fans and players after a derby loss c) reduce pressure if we have a slip up vs West Ham d) give fringe players some confidence.

Thing is that even when he does go I actually don't think he will get sacked, I think he will end up with some sort of upstairs role. The only other managerial job I could see him taking would be the Scotland job if Clarke bails at some point.

We didn't, we made it far harder for them to succeed with that many changes. Not least because some fans who have been itching to write players off now have some performances to point to.

And why can't we give them a go in the league?

If that lineup is OK in the cup would you be happy with it for West Ham too?
