Moyes: "maybe the supporters don't know and expect more"

He seems to think that fans have no right to question his decisions/tactics.... this coming from a man who played Neville in centre midfield over Gibson in a Q-Final.

All part of the master plan to win 3 points against City the following week mate. Moyes is like one of the most astute officers who come out of West Point. He's prepared to lose a battle to win the 6th place war.

You can sort of see what he is getting at but he has defo put it in the wrong way.

Lets hope that this spurs him on to make more right decisions in the future.

I for one will always respect him and what he has done for the club but he may need to tone down responses like that.

MR MOYES , my expectations are not high. i just dont expect to be beaten and embarrased by wigan at home 3-0 in an fa cup quarter final.
if restrictions were to blame for this poor performance and the drop in results since january (which coincides with your announcement over your contract - maybe this is just coincidence ), then the win over man city makes that argument a mute point. how can you lose such an important game against a not so good club but 7 days later beat the premier league champions ?
also if the clubs results are down to restrictions , where do these restrictions stem from ? imo its the chairman and board stagnating the club since the first day they took over , so why do you continue to praise and back these men ?

also if im aked to admit against city 'you got that right'. be man enough to admit against wigan 'you got that wrong' and dont insult the fans for having the most basic of expectations.

The final few lines just seal the fact that he's leaving in the Summer. It's a shame. Always respected Moyes and still do. Also believe we're not going to get a better manager in when he goes and we could end up being another Aston Villa.

Don't think his subs warranted boos from supporters either. Put your faith in the manager at all times, we're not like that ****e across the park. He knows what's going on and how tired the players are. What would we all be saying if he left Mirallas on and he pulled his hammy again?

This all stems from the 'you can become a victim of raising people's expectations' argument, which is partially true.

But surely expecting not be humiliated at home against a team in the relegation zone in season-defining make or break cup game is not too much to ask Davie ?

Ok, cheers. Be interesting to see club-by-club stats from 2002-2012 for:

Gate Receipts
Overall Turnover
Overall Net Profit
Net Transfer Spend
Wage Bill

Might be a lot of work for you, maybe it's accessible online somewhere.

The first three don't matter to me.

A manager has a set ammount of money which he spends on wages and transfers, that money tends to be earned by a mixture of three ways: by the squad in terms of prize money and cup runs, by the fans in terms of tickets and merchandise sols and by the baord in terms of sponsorship deals, loans and investment. In terms of judging the manger, and not the board, you shouldn't count where the money comes from.

From 2002 to 2012, which is 10 seasons, Moyes has spent 453.93 million pounds on bringing in and paying himself, his coaches and his players.

That's wages (35.3 + 32.87 + 30.66 + 36.97 + 38.4 + 44.48 + 49.1 + 54.3 + 58 + 63.4 = 443.48 million pounds) and transfer fees (114 million pounds) minus the money he's made by selling players (103.6 million pounds). (And probably an extra ten million on agents but that information is shady and hard to get so I'm ignoring it. We're about midtable there, anyway.)

So in ten top flight seasons that's 45 million pounds per season available to the first team.

You think less than 7 other english clubs have had that money to spend for every year they've been in the top flight in the last eleven years. I reckon about 15 clubs will have had more.

I would give him about an A- for improving the team and making us reasonably happy. In terms of having the bottle and tactical nous to continue the job which isn't finished much nearer a C to C+. So a B- on his report card.
