Moyes - IN or OUT ?

How significant is finishing above the red side two seasons in a row?

I don't even know where I was going.

I had a point in my head, but it had gone by the time i'd written the first sentance. It's the GOT Aids mate. Don't take the piss.

Mate, who am I to criticise anyones contribution to the Everton Forum, I should hang my head in shame.

No, it gives us a two leg cup game which would give us a chance to propel the club forwards via the cash & public exposure of being part of the biggest & best club competition on the planet.

Hands up who thinks Moyes would actually win that cup game?

That would largely depend on the opposition eh?

Come on ffs, you know exactly what the CL could mean to Everton & if we get the chance of it, it'll be a fantastic achievement & one that could have massive implications, both on & off the pitch in terms of our short & medium term future.

Or are you saying it's not worth having?

Thing is though mate. In your scenario these days the diff between 4th and 14th is around 10-15m a season. Thats the shiit practicality of supporting us isn't it.

I'm saying that I have no faith on Moyes getting us to the group stages even if we finish 4th.

We finish 3rd, then fair enough keep Moyes but 4th if anything increases my desire to get in a manager who can get players up for big cup games in a way that moyes can't.

Have to disagree with you there Ste

Gibson
Jags
Distin
Hibbert
Howard
Baines
Pienarr
are all north of what I consider young
Still some life in most of them, but we may need to start looking for fresher faces. I suppose there's Stones, Coleman, Oviedo Duffy, and Barkley, but who knows if any of them will make it?

No mate but your never really going to have replacements for your older players and be certain about them in all likelyhood. Plus at least 4 of those players will have at least another 3 years in top league football IMO.

Same mate - Especially when the draw is fixed and we end up playing Juventus or some such like last time.

So you'd want rid of the man responsible for the achievement of guiding the side to 4th place - against all the odds - because you'd fancy someone who 'was better in the cups' hahahaha, unbelievable.

Probably. Within 4 years, anyway. This team is far too good to finish 14th.

Of course it is, in fact I think we have a CL capable team, 7th/8th capable squad (outside the first 11 is pretty average).
But like you say we're getting to the rebuilding stage where Distin and co will some be departed and without any new money coming in, our manager will have to sell a player and use that money to replace that player, Distin, Osman, Pienaar and everyone else above a certain age, whilst still improving us and keeping everyone's morale up.
I can think of only a couple of managers that can do that. Moyes is obviously one of them.

Moyes is doing the right thing here...if he signs it means there WILL be considerable war chest for the next season.
So im pretty calm about this contract situation.

Still in the Moyes out camp - would like some fresh ideas and sick and tired of him playing hardball with the club, and the media all thinking he is bigger than the club.
