Moyes: "I can't afford to buy this January... I will be relying on loan deals"

The same happens every year, he's managing fan expectations and trying to decrease any fees that we might pay on any transfers.

Hopefully this is the case. And certainly I wouldn't expect anyone at the club to come out and say we have "X" amount of money to spend.

But... Yes he does say this every year. Maybe true maybe not, as has been proved and disapproved over the years. It's just I have this feeling that this January will be a reality check at how far behind we are to the likes of spurs, arsenal and Liverpool who will no doubt be spending and adding quality to there sides, whilst we are left scrapping the barrel for the odd loan deal.

I think our board will show the ambition of a lower table team basically instead of a team pushing for CL.

Haven't we all learnt by now that if you don't have money then you can't spend it?

Look at your household, the Government & lots of once great clubs (Leeds, Portsmouth et al). If you spend beyond your means then the chicken will come home to roost.

I'm not happy fighting for Europa Cup places but it's a lot better than mid table Championship or bottom half of League One.

I would love you to be proved Wrong however I really don't think you will be.

The other day I read that Lambert has been told he 'only has £10 million to spend in this transfer window'. What would Moyes do with 'only £10 million'. Hopefully, David is in 'poker player mode'.

Posted a couple of times but this is exactly what I was told was our position in this window .

I'd love it to be moyes playing down our situation but I really don't think it is . There is always what can be raised from a Heitinga sale to be considered as well.

The hope has to be things change , even at the last minute but sadly I believe at the moment at least this is where we are .

Everyone should know thats the situation were in Sheeds though. Elstone said at a fans meeting a few months back that we had something in the kitty but it wasnt alot and that it would probable be enough to make a loan signing or two.

And Moyesy as banged on about this for the past couple of months that all weve got is enough to make a couple of loan signings.

IF we could sell Heitinga so that we could make more purchases then great but im sure moyes will work his magic once again in the loan market!.

Let's just hope they're boss loan signings in the Lescott etc league.

I don't really believe he's looking to manage expectations, if he has said this every transfer window, then he's been telling the truth. When was the last time we had a positive net spend in a transfer window? The sales of Arteta, Beckford, Yak, Cahill, Bily and Rodwell have funded all of our recent spending.

Don't disagree mate but when it comes to football I suppose we all just like to be hopeful and think maybe the club are being coy , the reality is I think we all know or at least suspect the truth.

indeed, as ive said before - im not sure that moyes saying he had no money, is a tactic to make clubs think this so we get players cheaper, surely clubs are a bit more savey than that!

We could invest on the back of the new TV money, or even the forthcoming sale of Fellaini.

But no, that would put us at risk of 'doing a Leeds', wouldn’t it?

In my opinion absolutely , there are far far to many people involved in transfers for the ball park figures to be out in the sporting domain .

I may be wrong but I think he's just keeping it quiet. We were told he had 5 mil leftover from the summer. Either that's gone missing or moyes will try to use that well. IF we did have that money and IF Heitinga goes for 5. What would you do with that 10 mil?

So what are you thinking sheeds?

Probs 1/2 loans and maybe a perm cb if we get any cash for Heitinga?
