Moyes and Youth

Jags..class

Player Valuation: £70m
Man u fans keep going on to me about they cant wait to see what Moyes will do with the youth and expect him to bring the young players into the first team and yet this season some of our fans believe Moyes should have played more of Barkley and Duffy, did he not use these due to not being good enough or being to loyal to his players. I believe Moyes best skills are getting men in and helping them develop such as Jags, Pienaar and Lescott. How many young stars has he brought in from the academy?

People get far too carried away with our youth, when the simple fact is there not good enough, ready or better than what's on the pitch.

Barkley for example it's clear moyes made the decision to get him adult football this season, hence the loan deals.
Other than Barkley who have we got ready to come in???
Duffy - Vellios - Not for me, both need a run of adult football away from GP.

Osman, rodwell, Rooney, Vaughan, victor, I think that may be it. Most of them came in at last resort during an injury crisis. I agree with the point, moyes bringing through youth seems to be abit of a myth. It's more buying at 22-24 cheap and improving them.

I'm talking about the last 11 years as well as now, its just that the media and the fans are saying he good with the youth, which is not true.

moyes had a core of 14/15 favs and for any young player to break into that was near impossible. one thing he'll have to do differently at utd.

Barkley showed last year that he was good enough. 1 mistake and he was bombed out for over a year!

McAleny looked decent in his rare game against Arsenal. Has he been seen since?

Duffy wasn't allowed to go out on loan and wasn't played. That is the biggest mis-management for me, especially considering he looked more than capable last season.

Velios has looked decent coming off the bench at times as he offers us something the other strikers dont (he shoots).

The problem with younger players is that once they get to 18-19 they need to be playing some sort of 1st team football. If they miss out on 1st team football, they can stagnate in the reserves/U21s and not really progress. They will then tend to fall away around the ages of 21-22 and start again lower down, and it'll take a while to get back if that's even possible.

I think given that quite a few of our youngsters have/are playing International level football at their respective levels then they must be fairly decent and deserve some sort of a chance. If you're 3-1 up against Oldham at home or hammering Cheltenham away, do you need to bring Naismith and Hitz on as sub ahead of the younger lads?

Moyes will have to take a different approach to handling youth players if he's to survive at United.

I don't know why the likes of Duffy and Vellios are still here. Their agents must be useless.
