It worries me that Liverpool could add Joaquin and Villa to their side...

I don't think that would happen, Danny. That would represent a spend of (including Barry) nearly £50m. They're at least as skint as us so lets hope they end up with just the overvalued Barry.

Hopefully.

Although if some daft no mark club like Newcastle or Portsmouth pay £15m for Crouch, Not to mention reportedly selling Riise for £5m and if they shift a few others like Pennant...

All these fringe players will free up cash that pay for one decent signing as well as Barry. Then there are the wage demands of Barry and A.N. Other to pay. I'd be surprised if that could stretch to paying a Villa type person who is wanted by clubs like Barcelona, Chelsea and Real. I think they'll sign Barry and spend a further £10-15m or so on someone else.

At least that's my hope, mate

Well this was tough, ive chosen Joaquin, mostly because no-one has voted for him and i like to be different :). However here is why:

Joaquin, is only 26, so he has a good 5 years ahead of him. He is a skillful right winger, who will not be outpaced or out strengthened easily. He has alot of skill, and unlike most of our players he can take people on and get past them. Joaquin also has a good shot on him wether inside the area or outside. So basically hes a good player. Also Joaquin is known around Europe a big name, bigger than fernandes, moutinho and Arshavin. If Joaquin comes to us, our european popularity will get boosted, meaning more (but few) fans, and also other players next season will be more likely to come to us as we have some well known class players in our team.

Thats what i think anyway, after joaquin probably moutinho...But id be delighted if we got any of them...

joaquin.

sure it's a bit early for us to be buying big ego's as we should still be in the market for young hungry players. but he has undoubted quality.

then again... so did VDM...

Big Ego?

Hes desperate to stay at Valencia despite their current position. He rejected a few big moves while at Betis. Wouldn't say he has a big ego.

following a discussion with Joaquín, Real Betis chairman José León stated that Joaquin had convinced him that he would stay at Real Betis for another year. "It has surprised me a lot,” he admitted. “I came to convince him and on the contrary, he has convinced me", stated José León

perhaps that came across not quite as i intended.

a 'big name' would be more apt. he's played in 2 world cups and is known across europe. the sort of player who would demand a big wage and rather champions league football rather than uefa cup.

this sort of player hopefully we will be signing in the next 2 years or so.

but for now perhaps the trio of young, talented, potential should be our target.

For the money that's being bandied about:

1) Fernandes
2) Arshavin

Both could really really help.

Has anyone thought of the possibility of getting none of them? Id be really gutted, even mroe gutted than that riquelme thing falling through
