I like Fellaini but if we'd signed Moutinho and M'Bia instead last year I think we'd've finished in the top 4. Fellaini's presence is killing my Moutinho-anticipation this time around, we have loads of center mids and no wingers.

And just to illustrate my point, and because I love typing out hypothetical Everton teams:

----------Howard----------
Neville--Jags---Lescott--Baines
-------Moutinho--M'Bia--------
Arteta-----Cahill--------Pienaar
----------Yakubu-------------

Would've finished above Arsenal.

Good point, but Mbia looks a snide.

No one would have gotten injured if we had signed Mouthino and Mbia.

Would've been the dogs' as well.

And forgive me if I seem facetious, but given that Jagielka, Arteta and Yakubu's injuries all seem to have been freak occurrences, the butter-fly effect of signing Mout and M'Bia would probably mean they wouldn't have occurred as they did.

And part of the reason Moutinho seems an odd fit in our team now is that Arteta is so settled in center mid. He'd still be a winger if we'd bought Joao last year.

Its subjective mate, whos to say we wouldnt have finished ahead of Arsenal anyway without

Hibbert
Pienaar
Cahill
Yak
Yobo
Arteta
Jags
Saha
Vaughan
Anichebe
Jacobson
Valente

missing for long, critical and different points in the season.

I suppose my point is i wouldnt be to quick to dip players in and out of potential teams, there was only nine points in it.

Dont get me wrong i am all for the Mout etc if Moyes thinks they are the snizz. It needs to be rememberd though that every single player (bar those on trial at Blackburn) put in a tremedous shift this year and regardless of past or future signings i wouldnt bet against us getting top four with a fully fit team and no departures.

Well yeah but we can announce that a deal is in place whenever we want, Voronin, Modric, Deco and loads of others in recent years have been announced as moving in May or earlier.

The *tumbleweed* was more in reference to the thread dying the first time somebody asked 'So this is a credible rumour i take it?'

Sorry but I still don't see Moutinho coming to us. I feel like a broken record here.
