Time. Less of contract, less bargaining we Everton have. The run up to 2 years is the time most clubs will look to tie down players. As the 2 year passes to 18 months 12 months, the bids will decrease in value, until he has no contract left. He will be sold in the summer at optimum value to Everton, if no new contract is signed.

I still believe there is every chance he will sign a new contract, but realistic in Everton best interest.
