Because he was being overhyped back then, as I tried to tell you.

He's bang average, we had midfielders falling out of cupboards and that Dutch divvy threw £20M at United for him when he could barely get on their bench.

Others knew best though. I doff my cap to their judgement.

All players are over-hyped, hell, look at you and Deulofeu, but that doesn't alter the fact that he was playing well last season, not gods gift to football by any means, but certainly to a good standard and better than bang average.

I thought we needed him to replace Barry. A younger Barry with power and pace. Sadly whilst Barry had quality and heart but was losing his legs this guy is a complete fraud who has redefined what I thought was as low as we could go in terms of prem midfielders. Needs moving on as soon as possible.

Collective hysteria. He was just doing perfunctory stuff in reality. Those that wanted his "greatness" to be so were hyping it up beyond belief and many fell for it.

He was just a French 2nd division player transferred to a second tier English club and he impressed the stato geeks with his % pass completion rates and % tackles won and got lucky with a big move....then he was found out.

Err, I think you'll find that most of the people calling him great were just taking an opposite view to your good self and weren't totally serious.
Obviously this is not something that either you or I would do.

Barry had an eerie knack of spotting danger almost before it was there. Schneiderlin is nowhere near that level. He's a bottom half PL club player but believes himself to be top class. It's 'kin laughable.
